Such a beautiful morning for dandelion photos. Best viewed large

The grey-backed fiscal (Lanius excubitoroides) is a species of bird in the family Laniidae. It is found in most of east and central Africa. Its natural habitats are dry savanna and subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland.

This is a large shrike with a length of about 25 cm (10 in). The head of the male has a grey crown, a white supercilium and a large black mask. The upper parts are medium grey, the rump is white, the wings are blackish, with a white patch which is conspicuous in flight, and the long tail has a white base and a black tip. The underparts and base of the underside of the tail are white. The female is similar but has patches of chestnut on the flanks that are visible during display and when the bird is preening. The juvenile is brownish with brown wings and tail and is heavily barred with grey.

This beautiful Grey-backed Fiscal was photographed on a late afternoon game drive in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.

Giving the TTArtisan 100mm a run around the yard on a wet day. This is a Forest Pansy leaf - one of our faves in the garden.

It was a challenge to find something suitable and at the same time photogenic for today's theme. Then I remembered this tiny jewel box (3,5x3,5x3cm) with its bling bling checkered design, I put a little spiral of glitter ribbon inside and voila - no other options this time. I hope you like it.

HMM to all participants 💙💙💙

still got a lot of these small blue flowers popping out of my lawn. So why not portrait them..

La parola Bokeh è un termine del gergo fotografico derivato dal vocabolo giapponese boke, che significa sfocatura oppure confusione mentale.

Alle volte questi due significati coincidono...

October 2024: A month in 31 pictures - Day 29

The big oak out front is a wall of colour as the sun backlights the turning leaves. Lots of fun with the camera and lots of fun with the rake.
