The sooty chat (Myrmecocichla nigra) is an African songbird of the chat sub-family.
It is 15 to 16 cm (6 to 6.25 inches) long, stocky and relatively short-tailed for a chat. The adult male's plumage is glossy black except for white patches on the upper wings that are usually visible or only partly concealed (as in the photograph at upper right) when the bird is at rest. The female and young are very dark brown.
This beautiful Sooty Chat was captured during a photography safari on an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.
A young fledgling house sparrow basking in the soft light of the setting sun, perched ever so peacefully on a branch in the Garry oak tree. The cute little puff ball mimics the background big bokeh balls.
Photo captured with Nikon Z50 adapted with Nikkor 200-500mm lens.
Being my buddy meant napping away the afternoon at a window in my office.
ELMO 75mm f/2.5 Projector Lens in a loose/floppy M42 conversion so it is hard to get/hold focus.
We replaced one of the bulbs in my daughter’s room recently and the glass front piece of the bulb came away from the rest. I kept it and used it in front of my camera lens to get this distorted bokeh effect
Didn't feel inspired by this weeks Macro Mondays so posting a shot I like from a little while ago.
