I don't have anyone to play those games with any more, but now & then I make enough noise just in case someone is still looking & hasn't found me yet. {Story People}

Looking Close... on Friday! theme: Beads

Of course, I couldn't resist doing another bokehlicious shot when I saw the theme was beads. This is the entire width of an old bracelet full of tiny beads. You can see the wear and tear. HLCoF everyone.

Really appreciate all your comments and favourites.

D'Arnaud's Barbet (Trachyphonus darnaudii) is an African barbet. Barbets and toucans are a group of near passerine birds with a worldwide tropical distribution. The barbets get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills.

D'Arnaud's barbet is a small East African bird. It grows to about eight inches, and is equally at home in trees or on the ground.

These mostly solitary birds eat a variety of seeds and fruits, including figs. They will also visit plantations and feed on cultivated fruit and vegetables. Fruit is eaten whole and indigestible material such as seed pits regurgitated later. They are believed to be important agents in seed dispersal. In addition to seeds and fruits, they also eat a wide range of insects are taken, including ants, cicadas, dragonflies, crickets, locusts, beetles, moths, mantids, as well as scorpions and centipedes.

This beautiful D'Arnaud's Barbet was photographed on an early morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park, Kenya.

Autumn

Autumn, also known as fall in North American English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere), when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses, until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the shedding of leaves from deciduous trees.

The Unstriped Ground Squirrel (Xerus rutilus) is a species of rodent (order Rodentia) in the family Sciuridae. It is the only member of the genus Xerus not to have a stripe.

They live in the dry Savanna, subtropical areas and shrub land. This ground squirrel is pretty much a vegetarian they love to eat roots, seeds, fruit, pods, grains, insects, bird eggs and small vertebrates. These squirrels will eat basically anything hanging in a tree or crawling around that is small enough to fit in their little mouths.

This very cute Squirrel was captured during a photography safari on an late afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania.

The grey-headed gull (Chroicocephalus cirrocephalus), also known as the grey-hooded gull, is a small gull which breeds patchily in South America and Africa south of the Sahara.

During the breeding season the species inhabits tropical and subtropical coasts, rocky offshore islands, coastal dykes, coastal dunes, estuaries and harbours, as well as large inland fresh and alkaline lakes. Outside of the breeding season the species remains along the shores of coastal habitats (e.g. rocky offshore islands, coastal dykes, coastal dunes and estuaries) but also frequents settlements, cattle pens and fishing harbours.

Its diet consists predominantly of fish, as well as invertebrates (e.g. insects, molluscs and termites), the eggs of herons and cormorants, and dead fish and refuse obtained by scavenging.

This lovely Grey-headed Gull was photographed during a Photography Safari on a boat ride along the shores of Lake Oloiden, Naivasha, Kenya.
