Tiger Longwing, Heliconius hecale - one of the butterflies in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo, seen on 10th May. Loved the colours in the bokeh : )
I'm going to absolutely collapse in a short while, with a mug of coffee and the sandwich I took with me today but never ate. A handful of us made a return visit today to Rod Handfield's property south west of the city, and we spent the whole day botanizing and mushrooming. Totally exhausted and I need some "lunch" and coffee. I think I am totally "mushroomed out" - it's a wonderful forest to explore and we found all sorts of interesting things. I'm filthy, tired and hungry .... and happy : )
Thanks, Art, for looking up the ID. I found it as Tiger Longwing, Heliconius hecale - it didn't mention "zuleika". Heliconius hecale is good enough, though.
This was a really foggy cold morning. Frozen drops on branch tips as the sun rose made a really nice bokeh effect. The horizontal white lines are fog droplets.
First attempt at bokeh, okay?
Asked Santa for a new lens for Christmas. I'm crossing my fingers and so stoked!
On Christmas day in 2009, I went to the Vimanmek Mansion by myself, hoping to see dance there only to find that this event had moved to somewhere else. Very dissappointing.
Went to a restaurant inside and ordered this dish. This is a big adventure for me as I was alone and didn't (and don't) know any Thai.
Oh, I used "tuk tuk" from a Sky train station to here and it should be much bigger adventure to me as I didn't know any Thai and I didn't know the area. I just had a map and a few experience of taxi. (But I negociated the price!)

Well, the tree went up today and it is literally exploding with bokeh opportunities! Took this more as a quick snap just to celebrate the start of the christmas season proper!!!

2 / 52: bokeh
rainy evening on mainstreet with the cam on the roof of my car
just had the nerve for 6 shots to do, so this seems to be the best to me.
btw, the dark spots in the bokeh are raindrops on the lens.
it was impossible to get a dry minute. or a dry spot, due to heavy storm and driving rain.
the bokeh is a mix of car lights, traffic lights, streetlamps and ad signs....
I borrowed some lights from my wife's collection. I wanted to show the settings in the ball and the bokeh outside.

It's been nearly a year since I've had my camera, and I decided to revisit and slightly re-edit one of the first pics I really liked.
