A friend called my attention to this interesting fungal gall on a shrub at Howell Woods, Johnston County, NC (USA) on 25 April 2021. I believe it is...
Azalea Gall - Exobasidium rhododendri (Fuckel) C.E. Cramer
Synonym: Exobasidium vaccinii var. rhododentri.
Reference:
www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=10406
I am not sure of the hostplant. Looks like an azalea, but no sign of fruit or flowers. Leaves are deciduous and up to 9 cm long. Might be Rhododendron periclymenoides (Pinxter Flower) or the similar Rhododendron canescens (Mountain Azalea). One frame in this series has a detail of the leaves.
Update on ID 9/28/24. I think this is actually
Sweetleaf Gall - Exobasidium symploci
Looking at a couple of references on trees and shrubs, the form of the leaves matches sweetleaf (Symplocos). Petrides' Field Guide to Eastern Trees notes that the midrib in Symplocos is yellow, clearly visible here. Bud scales and twigs look correct. So I think that is a better fit.

A field of yellow daisies. Love how the background daisies have become yellow blur circles. Using Nikkor 70-200mm VR lens.
I’ve been planning on doing a bokeh shot for some time, and finally made one today with my new NEX-3. This is our street at night when it’s a bit out of focus :-) Not quite happy with the result, will keep on trying.
Sony NEX-3 + Sony 18-55mm.
Completely SOOC (straight-out-of-camera fyi) image from one of the campus shoots that we do nearly every Thursday. It's simplicity drew me to it.

Playing around with some night shots.. I particularly liked this one.
It was beginning to rain, so I didn't get the chance to take very many.
