Granite blocks at the Olympic Village in Vancouver.

My first Crazy Quilt block. Lots of lessons learned here! Still have more areas to work on it, though.

Block F for Oh Fransson's Mod Quiltalong. I finished these a week or so ago but didn't have a chance to get a photo up until now.

From my visit to Auschwitz in 2015.

Do your blocks get messed up between cutting and stitching ? If so you might need one of these! Keeps your bits where they should be!

I knew I should have stopped and taken a break. Haven't decided If ill re-do it or just keep it.

I started on one of the short edges and worked from the center most hexagon towards the outside.

Then I used the large ruler to show the diagonals of the hexagons and placed a couple of pins. I repeated this in the other diagonal directions.

I now have a rough layout of the hexagons

This is one a couple more blocks I made a while back for Jacquie's "Project Improv." She needed a few more and I volunteered to help. Now I just need to take time to make my own improv quilt. I really have been enjoying putting the different fabrics and blocks together without a pattern.

A view of the other part of the "L" which makes up the block.

St Nicholas's church at Saintbury sits on a high vantage point overlooking the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border atop Saintbury Hill, though oddly enough when approached by steep ascent through the village keeps itself mostly hidden amongst the dense foliage until one stumbles upon a pathway through the trees that reveals an enticing doorway framed by leaves beyond.

The building is largely of 14th & 15th century date, though its origins are clearly much older as witnessed by the simple Norman doorways in the nave (the north side being the main entrance, that on the south side is blocked).

The interior preserves an atmosphere of antiquity in its fittings, with fragments of medieval glass in the east window and substantial pieces of post-Reformation mural decoration in the chancel (Biblical texts, uncovered only recently).

The church is no longer used for regular services and is vested in the Churches Conservation Trust. For more details see below:

Magpies and black and white are closely associated with Newcastle so were the perfect motif for Janine's butterfly block.

Posted yesterday.

This is the first block I completed for Liz. I was afraid to cut the fabric so I started small. Block is 8.5" and the tiny apple is about one inch square.

Named this one Red Delicious Granny Smith...now I want to keep it.

Interesting to see the change in skein color even though I used the same dyelot throughout. Luckily not so different, looks like maybe I did it on purpose?

A sneak peak at my last bee block for Stitch Tease round 1

blogged www.randomthoughtsdoordi.com/2013/02/art-quilts.html

Not entirely perfect, but I'm happy with it. This was my first block with triangles, so it was pretty challenging for me. Those little suckers are tough! I (obviously) left out the appliqued center circle, but the fault was mine. Cutting error led to only one piece of the red and I (of course) messed up cutting the circle.

It is taking me approximately 45 minutes per block.
