I saw some gorgeous colour blocking over at CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week and wanted to have a go. I coloured up an acrylic block with some Hero Arts Shadow and Mid-tone inks, spritzed with water and pressed onto my card base. I then used Hero Arts Cup'o'Joe ink to stamp my new Unity Itty Bitty set. Stamped the flourish onto the blocks and the sentiment to the side.

July blocks for Together do.Good Stitches - sorry they are both the same, I had to make them as quickly as possible or they would have had to wait until some time in August -and I realise now I haven't got much contrast in the quartered corner blocks - sorry! Hope they'll be okay.
Here's my block 3 for the quilt along. I made the handle curved at the top by making the squares out of the purple and yellow triangles so it looked more like a curved handle. This was a quick and fun block to make!
Heather, I forgot to trim away the circle under the middle circle (the one used for turning it right side out) on this block before I sewed it down. You can see a shadow of it through the center circle because the sun is shining through it. It's not visible at all without light behind though. I hope that's ok. duh me!
I went kinda crazy and did all the blocks. I did half last night and the other half this afternoon. I am loving the colors.
Light was fading, we were both putting up with splitting headaches, and we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us, so the chase had to come to an end as most things do. We chose to end our chase at Block, and of course, the railfan gods decided to bless us with the stupidity of people, as we witnessed a woman in the top basket of the signal behind us and a man sitting square in the gauge until 4014 was about 5 or 10 seconds from ragdolling him. Stay classy, Illinois.

Block 6 in the Layer Cake Quilt Along. I didn't notice if it had a proper name but, to me, it's the factory icon from SimCity :)
I'm now pondering on what other icons could make good quilt blocks!

I make block ice in my freezer to prepare for hurricane season, in case our electricity goes out.
I've experimented with various molds and have come up with a pretty good system.
It seems like making block ice would be very easy, but there are some tricks that make it faster and less messy.
There are also some important things to consider to avoid flooding or damaging your freezer!
Do you have a blocked toilet drain, blocked sewer drain or a blocked sink drain? It makes no difference to Pearla. Now it's time to call the Pearla Plumbing.
