Heather, I forgot to trim away the circle under the middle circle (the one used for turning it right side out) on this block before I sewed it down. You can see a shadow of it through the center circle because the sun is shining through it. It's not visible at all without light behind though. I hope that's ok. duh me!

Apparently this is Galveston's latest attempt to keep the sea at bay - giant Lego-like I-shaped concrete blocks that interlock with one another. And apparently, the results are spotty. Clearly the sand beneath is washing out from under the blocks, creating high and low spots, which will only get more and more pronounced as time goes by. It makes me wonder what they did with the thousands of pink granite blocks that used to be here...
The invite to little Eve's first birthday was just the excuse I needed to wip up some more of these blocks.

I make block ice in my freezer to prepare for hurricane season, in case our electricity goes out.
I've experimented with various molds and have come up with a pretty good system.
It seems like making block ice would be very easy, but there are some tricks that make it faster and less messy.
There are also some important things to consider to avoid flooding or damaging your freezer!

this is one of 3 stamps i cut last spring. I never got to print an edition because i got hit by a car right after i finished them, needless to say i finally pulled them out for an edition of 10 on some Fabriano artist paper. they come with fancy photo corners if you want one!
