A selection of new block print journals I have been working on. They are not Moleskine, but are constructed much like them, with the elastic closure and the interior pocket. These were printed first with a layer of white ink, then a layer of silver on top.

Hope you like your blocks, Terri. I kept them simple to make the best of the HR you sent me. I am particularly pleased with how the elephant and Mowgli fit together without it being obvious that I had to cut the monkey from the middle. These shall be handed over with pleasure in a few weeks time.

Pattern from Knitpicks. Knit in lace-weight, hand-dyed alpaca-silk blend yarn from Dicentra Designs. Yes, it blocks out to the full 36"x72" measurement suggested in the pattern.

I'm not entirely happy with this one; there are some places down near the tail where I mucked up the lace and was too sick of knitting the thing to go back and fix it. It'll do; worn, the errors won't be noticeable. But it irks me.

After seeing the photo, I went back to the guest room and put the scalloped edges on blocking wires to get them more even.

In progress. I printed the completed block yesterday, so I'll post photos of the finished print soon.

Block 6 in the Layer Cake Quilt Along. I didn't notice if it had a proper name but, to me, it's the factory icon from SimCity :)

I'm now pondering on what other icons could make good quilt blocks!

Elliot asked that he could have a block party for his birthday so that he could ride his bike in the street.

Ok folks, here they are for the taking. Find them, keep them, trade them. Find them all and you can put then together for the whole image.

Some positive and negative spacing. Downtown Los Angeles.

I wasn't a fan of the chain stitch--it made it very bold and distinct from the other blocks. Since they're all going in the same quilt when I'm done, I used a backstitch for this block.

I just about exhausted my supply of tiles on this project (there will probably be a Bricklink order in my future). All blocks of the same color are constructed identically and each block has a symmetrical tile arrangment. I was sad that I had such a dearth of blue tiles that I could not even muster one blue block (but some how I managed an orange one?!?)

The ratio of the sides of the wooden blocks is 1:1:8 which makes for a very loose fit. For the Lego blocks I used a 1:1:7 ratio since Lego bricks are made to more exact tolerances. This allows for easier puzzle assembly and a completed result that is more snug.
