The Centre Block (in French: Édifice du centre) is the main building of the Canadian parliamentary complex on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, Ontario, containing the Commons and Senate chambers, as well as the offices of a number of Members of Parliament and Senators, as well as senior administration for both legislative houses. It is also the location of several ceremonial spaces, such as the Hall of Honour, the Memorial Chamber, and Confederation Hall.
Built in the Gothic Revival style, the present Centre Block is the second iteration of the building, after the first was destroyed by fire in 1916; all that remains of the original building is the Library of Parliament, at the rear of the Centre Block. Though construction began immediately after the blaze, sculpting work on the interior continued through the 1970s. One of the most recognizable buildings in Canada, the Centre Block is depicted on the Canadian $10 bill (the Library of Parliament), $20 bill (the main entrance), and the $50 bill (the Peace Tower).
One of the several ice blocks (this one has a slalom) that was used for the party. This design gave the choice of beverage more contact time with the ice.
For her blocks in the Tag Square Bee Julianna asked for blocks in orange, red and purple. This block is "That Thirties Thing" from Quilter's Cache. I scaled the block up to be 12.5" (unfinished) using the scale option on my printer. It's a very simple paper-pieced block.

Several hundred years ago, a vessel was wrecked upon the shore at Jurby, with 3 brothers, by the name of Quayle, surviving the wreckage. When they reached safety on the shore, they got down on their knees and thanked God for their survival - promising that they would settle on land as far from the sea as they could get - the top of the Sulby valley. In 1515, the manorial roll shows no Quayles in the area, yet by the following one, Quayles resided at Ballaskelly & the Creggans, and by the turn of the century, Quayles occupied Block Eary (Eairey), Ballaskella, The Creggans, Lhergy Rhennie, Sherragh Vane and Creg Mooar.
Unusually for Manx farmers, there is no record of any of these Quayles ever combining fishing with the farming, as was usual elsewhere on the island.
For her quilt Sara provided a mariner's compass made from batiks as an inspiration. This block is "Nova" from "Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 2."
It's probably the most complicated paper-pieced block I've ever made and I can't believe that it turned out as well as it did! Paper piecing is always so magical the way it comes together perfectly at the end.
I'd love to make an entire quilt of these but that would probably take eons. One can dream, anyway.
For badskirt, who wanted pluses, minuses, and equals...es.
I loved working on something minimalist. It was a fun challenge to make the most of the negative space in the block. I enjoyed the citrusy colors, too -- and who knew that Kona ash was so gorgeous?
Thanks for the interesting brief, Amy. It'll go out in the mail on Monday.

Sydney Trains set M19 rolls into platform 22 at Sydney's Central Station as SETS locomotive 8606 stands opposite on Robel Train E740 bound for the City Circle. The 86 would move off shortly after the M set pulled into the platform, entirely blocking a shot of its departure. 15/12/20

He kept taking weird things into the pool and found these two blocks of wood and was banging them together (at least it wasn't two empty halves of coconut. Name that reference!). I can't believe how grown up he looks these days especially since he's her youngest. :(

Dopo il primo MiniCD "Down With the Madness" uscito per Countdown Records in Luglio 2007, i Concrete Block suonano costantemente e condividono il palco con Sepultura, Sick Of It All, Murphy's Law, Maroon, Shattered Realm, Skarhead, Agnostic Front, The Business, Slapshot e tanti altri.
Il bassista viene rimpiazzato perchè trova posto in un TV show come stand up commedia e l'album nuovo prende forma. Si arriva al 2013 con una piena attività live e "Twilight of the Gods", l'ultimo lavoro uscito per F.O.A.D. Records, registrato al One Black Sox studio da Carlo Girardi. E' la storia continua…
