BACKSTORY: We had a get-together at our house. We thought it was going to be very small gathering, but then people kept unexpectedly showed up, so we ended up with 8 or 9 people.

Somehow, the birds seem always to blink when I'm taking pictures ...

The blinking Eye footbridge accross the Tyne between Gateshead and Newcastle. So distinctive that images of it are used to represent the area in many contexts. (Although sometimes it must be difficult to decide whether to use an image of this or the Angel of the North).

This picture was taken from the Baltic, an old quayside building converted into an art gallery, part of the rejuvenated Gateshead quayside, which also includes the Sage.

if only the blinking lights were in full effect...

This is a simple animation I did of a character blinking. I want to complete this and try to add more to it as there isn't all that much going on, but I wanted to work on an animation with a lot more detail. And next time I don't want to use too much of just copying the same frame pasting it to the next frame and making small changes.

OK, so it is not blinking. What is really happening is that the nictating membrane is being drawn across the cornea. This membrane helps to protect the eye and effectively works like a wiper blade on a car windscreen, clearing the eye surface of any bits.

Clark Crystal winces while talking to participants in the riding. He was handing out ASDA packed lunches in hemp bags so they could participate in the Picnic at the Parliment.

Blinking happily in a sunny spot. Or possibly squinting at the telly while she casts magic spells at Djokovic. They didn't work.

“Slow blinking” could be a physiological response to lowered stress hormonal levels from being in a calm state. This behavior is not exclusive to domestic house cats. Since cats can be very territorial, in the wild they utilize this slow blinking with other cats to signal themselves as friendly or nonthreatening.

My Nikon D70 suffered the Blinking Green Light of Death and has been gone for repair almost a month. I miss my camera! So I'm going over older photos to find things to post to Flicker. This is a deer (I think) way at in a meadow in Yosemite Valley. I took it with a long lens handheld, so set the ISO high and the aperature wide open. The noice and blurriness make me yearn for a vibration-reducing lens.

Bastet always blinks when I'm doing flash photography.

In the background I've got vim open working on some bit of the AspectML implementation.

"Blinking into the Sunlight" was a solo show by British artist "Mysterious Al" which was showcased in a condemned warehouse in Collingwood, Melbourne.

Visitors to the "Blinking into the Sunlight" exhibition followed a route through various rooms and spaces with experiential installations and interactive elements, opening out to a large gallery space with paintings and work on paper.

"Oh, nobody understands anything, we're all just here, blinking in the light like kittens."

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge spanning the River Tyne

The award-winning structure was conceived and designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre and structural engineers Gifford. It was built by Volker Stevin in 2000.

The bridge is sometimes referred to as the Blinking Eye Bridge due to its shape and its tilting method.

This tilting arrangement allows ships up to 82ft in height to pass under. The bridge takes as little as 4.5 minutes to rotate through the full 40° from closed to open, depending on wind speed!
