Even though Christmas has never been a very significant holiday in Japan, people are really getting into decorating their houses. I've seen the increase over the years - what was a few simple lights last year is a blinking monstrosity this year. Next year I expect to see a Japanese version of Clark Griswold up on a roof somewhere....

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge spanning the River Tyne

The award-winning structure was conceived and designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre and structural engineers Gifford. It was built by Volker Stevin in 2000.

The bridge is sometimes referred to as the Blinking Eye Bridge due to its shape and its tilting method.

This tilting arrangement allows ships up to 82ft in height to pass under. The bridge takes as little as 4.5 minutes to rotate through the full 40° from closed to open, depending on wind speed!

Deboxing my Pullip Snow White doll. First the seal on the top lid is broken, and the inner box is removed by sliding it out of the outer box. Then the contents of the box are removed, and laid down on the floor before being assembled. First I test the blinking mechanism of the doll. There are two spring loaded buttons on the back of her head, under her hair. When they are pushed all the way down, they close the eyelids of each eye, and lock in place. Her eyelids have a considerably darker color than the rest of her face. To unlock them, push the buttons upwards (towards the top of her head). Then the eyelids will open again. The lever in the middle is to move her eyes to the left or right, in unison.

I just received a Pullip Snow White 12'' doll from PullipStyle on eBay. I ordered her Tuesday night and got her on Friday. She is very beautiful, with an outstanding outfit. Her wearable accessories include an apple purse, large satin ribbon and red high heeled shoes. She also comes with a doll stand, and a character card. She has gray-blue eyes, that can blink and move side to side, using buttons and levers on the back of her head. She has long black hair with large curls, and her legs are covered by white tights. Now my Pullip Dal Tinker Bell has a big sister doll to keep her company.

I'm in the middle of making a free PDF pattern for this little one... so stay tuned!

Figured out to take the base from the white one to try out the green one. Hope you enjoy.

You know that portrait shot thats great except the subject is blinking?

Takes a real expert to manage that with a bird. Proof that birds blink.

I’ve googled the life out of it but I still can’t find an original source for the quote “They emerged, blinking, into the daylight….” – maybe my search engine skills ain’t what they used to be, any help much appreciated….this is the walkthrough from Exchange Flags to Old Hall Street – I’ve got loads of ideas about how to best shoot this space but this is the only one I’ve tried so far.

Blinking and adjusting my glasses, but I thought this photo showed off the dress well anyway.

The finished thing, after being outside blinking for four hours. Still works really well. With some fine tuning it even triggers now and then from the air circulation naturally in the house. And crapola, I REALLY do need to replace that jar with something prettier.

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge spanning the River Tyne in England between Gateshead's Quays arts quarter on the south bank, and the Quayside of Newcastle upon Tyne on the north bank. The award-winning structure was conceived and designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre and structural engineers Gifford.[1] The bridge is sometimes referred to as the 'Blinking Eye Bridge'[2] or the 'Winking Eye Bridge'[3] due to its shape and its tilting method. In terms of height, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge is slightly shorter than the neighbouring Tyne Bridge, and stands as the sixteenth tallest structure in the city.

A welder going to town under the truck and the inside of the gas station ... man I need to clean that place up. The welding outfit is 3 LED's with two being blue & white blinking at different speeds. Costs about 8 -12 bucks and can be left out year round.

Guin covers her mouth and nose as she slips into the house, blinking rapidly and fearing the worst. The inside was an absolute wreck, but all she cares about is that it isn't in flames. And there is Forge, standing in the middle of the room as if there wasn't a bike engulfed in flames just feet away. "Forge!" she says again, with slightly less urgency. She takes a few, slow steps forward. "What on earth is going on? Are you all right?"

Damian hears Guin, weighing it as a new variable. "Rena ever spin you the yarn when she and the gals came a callin' on me in my loft...?" He chuckles as his eyes search the floor. He lets his ash fall by the bottom of the bookcase in case there is any air movement. "It's a classic... " He finishes in a low voice.

Forge watched Damian's movement and he shook his head. "Rena and I don't talk much. Hardly ever see her." He continued without looking over his shoulder. "Guin-- do me a favor love... on the kitchen table there is a gun--pick it up and point it at Damian." Since the gas was moving--there was a small rush of air--the ash would flutter back toward Damian's boot and he took another step forward.

Damian smiles, letting the cigarette drop from his lips and bounce off his chest. "That would be a damn shame," he says... flat eyes tracking for the man behind him. "I thought she and I hit it off the other night." His right hand moves to the center of his waistband slowly.

Even when blinking during the photo she looks amazing! Rachel Womble could not have been a better Glinda. Here I'm holding the underskirt of the dress. Similar to Sandy Powell's 2015 Cinderella gown, the underskirt of Glinda's dress is many, many layers of iridescent and translucent fabric.

DIRTY TOGETHER

I wait my turn at the single blinking red light in Gold Haven, Kentucky, and turn left before pulling into the gas station. This is the first place I ever pumped gas in my life. It was a lot cheaper then too. My Pontiac isn’t a whole lot nicer than the 1988 Fiero I drove back then, but in this town, it doesn’t stand out, and that’s exactly what I need. I tug on a trucker hat and slip on sunglasses before opening the door and climbing out.

The old pumps I expected, the ones where the numbers click over as you fill up, have been replaced with newer models.

Even better. It lowers the chance that someone will recognize me if I can avoid all human interaction.

I swipe my card, get my gas, and twist the gas cap back on. When I get back to Nashville, I’m finally going to look into replacing this car. I rarely splurge on anything.

Even though I won a “million-dollar recording contract” on Country Dreams, the amount I saw was laughable. Albums? They’re expensive as hell to produce. And as far as the pay I get per show when I’m on tour, after all the expenses are covered? It’s also nothing to write home about. But as my share of the ticket sales goes up and I build my fan base, that will eventually change.

But for now, I’m saving every penny I can and getting by on the bare minimum because I don’t know when the bottom will fall out.

Not much has changed about that since I married billionaire Creighton Karas. Thoughts of my husband spiral through me, followed by equal jabs of guilt and regret. I can’t believe I did it again. This morning I just up and walked out.

I don’t know what I was thinking beyond . . . if I didn’t get out of that penthouse at that very moment, I felt like something inside me was going to break. I had to get out of that...

After "blinking" by dipping its eyes underwater, the Pug-headed Mudskipper (Periophthalmodon freycineti) seems alert and attentive to its surroundings. On certain legs of our Queensland excursion, we found ourselves similarly refreshed after a rare shower or a quick dip in a river. If you look closely, you will see a mosquito sitting on the mudskipper's nose.
