Built during the boom of 1907, the Blessing State Bank is one of the few remaining commercial buildings from this period. Possibly designed by Victoria architect Jules Leffland, designer of the Blessing Hotel, the bank operated until 1932. Blessing was without a bank until 1966, when it was restored to its original function and appearance. An asymmetrical entry, arched windows, flat roof, and stately feeling reflect a classic early 20th-century bank building. (1997) (Marker No. 12054)

I saw this letter in our break room yesterday. Many times families will send little thank you cards and food to say thanks to the nurses for taking care of their kids. But I've never seen a family send a professional letter to our Director to specifically thank individual nurses. I remember clear as day this family. They were amazing and absolutely invested in their child--a quality, sadly, that is too little seen on our unit. I feel so SO blessed to have been apart of their lives. So many of the families ask me how I could possibly work on such a unit. This is why :) because it is a privilege to teach, struggle, and live along side families when their worst nightmare comes true. Thank you to this family for reminding me why I work so hard.
