the detail of these small wonders is breathtaking- I'd never noticed the extra tiny heart at the top of the blossom...and the variegated colours above the blossom where the stem gives rise to the flower
Bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis; previously Dicentra spectabilis) at Hahn Horticulture Garden, Virginia Tech.
This red variety is Valentine bleeding heart (Dicentra spectabilis 'Hordival') .
Every time I tried to get a shot of these they were dangling in the wind. Finally tonight they were still.
I thought the name of this song was Bleeding Heart, but it is Bleeding Love.
Anyway she is on her way to stardom, or so they say.
These pretty bleeding hearts(I think thats what their called) come up every year along the fence line.

If I decide to pony up the dough for the adaptor to use my Mamiya 145mm Soft Focus lens on my Nikon, I'll REALLY have sumpin'!
