This is the bleeding heart that I got for my mom last year on Mother's Day. It is doing surprisingly well in it's second year. And, I should also mention that this was the first shot I took with my D40.

I love these exotic looking little flowers...almost alien-like. Note the little condensation droplets inside the blooms.

Scientific Name: Clerodendrum thomsoniae Balf.

Synonym: Clerodendrum balfouri

Family: Verbenaceae

Best viewed large. I noticed in this picture one of the dew drops on the grass in the background came through as a rainbow. Nice little gem!

Bleeding Gods - Metaldays 2018

The early heat this year was making the plants a little sad at the Denver Botanic Gardens, but these Bleeding Hearts seemed to be OK in the shade of a large tree...

I don't know how it manages to grow like this when it lives almost under a huge spruce tree. I sometime think I could move it but it seems happy where it is growing.
