Winter has hardly begun. There is little snow and even tho it is cold today...40 is predicted for later in this January week.
Still...my mind is on spring! And COLOR.

One of my favorite flowers. I think of my mom when I see these. We had so many of them growing in our postage stamp size yard In Lowell, Mass when I was a kid. My mom just loves these. Shot taken in my garden in Candia, NH.
These came back and bloomed a second time after a late freeze this year. I was completely surprised! 2007.
This is only my second ever shot of this lovely bird at Edinburgh Zoo, as it's very elusive. My first shot was crap but this one I like.

An unusually high altitude (about 1000 metres) location and unusually late blooming date.
