Barb and I made this last night for our first customers. They hugged us repeatedly and confessed their true love for this cake. Barb's friend ordered the cake for her mom, who grows bleeding hearts. It was a surprise for her birthday, very well recieved indeed. Oh, and it's vegan. We're amazing.

Stereum gausapatum at RSPB Swell Wood. Very common but we love a bit of guttation!

I love how they flower-out along the branch usually in an arch. May long week-end is right about on schedule for Winnipeg. Best not to eat them as they are poisonous.

Feeling a little sad today. Playing Angra - Bleeding Heart in my computer.

I couldn't resist posting another shot of the white bleeding hearts since a lot of you guys have never seen them before. :)

Almost looks like a butterfly on the flower

"Lamprocapnos spectabilis", bleeding-hearts, Tränendes Herz, Herzblume.

Since last year i'm trying to get a beautiful shot of "Bleeding hearts", unfortunately unsuccessful.

But i think this is the best picture i've ever get, from this pretty blossoms. Not perfect but somehow pretty.

Taken in our front yard while the mosquitos feasted. If you look closely at the third photo, you may notice the silhouette of a surprise visitor. That's the fun of macro flower photography. Sometimes you simply discover a friend you never knew you had. . .

All photos clickable as always.

Attempt #3 at finding a good angle of this unique, combined storefront and blade sign. This is another bleeding neon image where I pulled the film with the shutter still open. After previously fucking this shot up (royally) with my last reloaded 100C pack, I tried it again with the last frame of One Instant I had on me. I got a better pull, this time, but still don't like how it framed.

Also used to define a type of person. People can also be defined as having a kind heart, a broken heart, a soft heart, a cold heart....

Mary Oliver wrote,

"I know a bleeding-heart plant that has thrived

for sixty years if not more, and has never

missed a spring without rising and spreading

itself into a grassy bush, with many small red

hearts dangling. Don't you think that deserves

a little thought? "

A note on May 7, 2025: Unfortunately, the bleeding-heart plant that produced the lovely dangling hearts in this image did not thrive for such a long time. I miss it, still; and I'm glad I made many photos of it while it was thriving.
