The human body means something different to each of us, whether it be perfection from the start or a blank canvas for a bigger piece of art.

I like the idea of treating my house like a blank canvas

but I am not sure I could live with that througout the whole house...

Welcome to your blank canvas. This is the beginning of day 1 of 3 days that have been set aside to get 365 photos onto this space in readiness for the Project 365 exhibition that opens at the end of day 3. The exhibition is taking place at Norwich Arts Centre involving 3 local photographers and a Belgian musician recording an album a month for a year.

This space is all mine. I've got 365 prints of various sizes, 10 wooden frames, 2 tubes of UHU, a table, and its snowing. All I need now is a ladder. A really big ladder. Oh, and some mirror mounts. And screws. And my Dremmel. And tools. And coffee. And a plan. As you can tell, I'm not entirely prepared, even though I appear to have brought a car load of stuff with me. This should be pretty simple though. Except I've just noticed that Alex and Nat, who arrived before me, to get started, have got everything rather more organised than I have.

Project 365

'Blank Canvas', a new lifesize steel artwork by Ray Lonsdale at South Bank in Teesside. The cor-ten steel it's made of gives it a deliberately rusty appearance.

Needed to to try something new so played around in photoshop.....

Blank Canvas night featuring Jean-Michel van Schouwburg’s ‘Trio 876’ and The Huddersfield Trio

Wednesday 21st January 2015 7.30

Doors 7pm, music (please note prompt 7.30 start time)

£5.00 & £3.00

Bluecoat Arts Centre,

School Lane,

Liverpool L1 3BX

Venue: 0151 702 5324

www.improvisersnetwork.co.uk/bc/

Trio 876

(Marcello Magliocchi - percussion; Matthias Boss - violin; Jean-Michel van Schouwburg - voice)

Marcello Magliocchi is a pioneer in avant garde jazz in South Italy since the 1970s. He has toured with Steve Lacy, William Parker, and many of the Italian jazz scene (including Enrico Rava, Roberto Ottaviano and Enrico Pieranunzi). He designs his own instruments and builds sounds installations using percussion.

Matthias Boss is a wizard violinist on a par with improv maestros like Jon Rose and Zingaro. His sound, technique and melodic sense are all of the highest level - a stalwart of the great Swiss improvising scene for decades now.

Jean-Michel van Schouwburg is a rarity: a male improvising singer exploring the possibilities and extremities of the human voice. He has performed and recorded with John Russell, Lawrence Casserley, Paul Dunmall and Sabu Toyozumi, and also acted in the award winning movie Berberian Sound Studio.

A note from the curators: this gig marks a welcome return to Liverpool for vocalist Jean-Michel, following on from his highly successful workshop at Bluecoat Arts Centre in October 2014, and we very much look forward to future visits and collaborations!

The Huddersfield Trio

(Mark Hanslip - tenor saxophone; Phil Morton - accidents & treatments; Phillip Marks - drums/percussion)

Mark Hanslip first came to recognition as a sideman on the UK jazz scene in the mid-2000s, during which he gradually gravitated towards purely improvised music. He currently plays with Twelves, drummer Tony Bianco’s Utoma Quartet, and more locally with an array of improvising musicians and dancers.

Phillip Marks is best known for co-leading the trio Bark! whose CDs for Evan Parker’s psi label have attracted significant acclaim. He also plays regularly in pianist Stephen Grew’s quartet and in duo with reedist Mick Beck.

Phil Morton has 30 years experience in the nature and practice of free improvisation. Pauline Oliveros, Maggie Nicols,Phil Minton, Steve Beresford, Simon H. Fell, Carlos Zingaro are a few important artists he has worked with or learned from. He co-founded the Frakture organisation, is a well-known acoustic ecologist leading ‘sound-walks’ around the city, has made presentations at conferences and as a musician has worked nationally and internationally.

What colours fill the world, Oh mother, what joyfull colours!

I’ve found the Beloved, yes I found him, Right here In my very own courtyard.

Some things just beg for a little color or the addition of a small sculpture. This stump is in a public park.

[352/365] deagles.net

Here’s the blank canvas in my new home …. what should I do with it (other than paint over the ugly blue wall) ?

(a) photo studio

(b) home theatre

(c) both

I’m thinking (c) …. how about …. theatre seats that can be dragged (or maybe rolled) out to the walls to open up the space; white wall or backdrop/screen to project on to AND take photos in front of; strobes, lightstands, etc around the walls when watching movies;

What would you do with a blank canvas like this ?

94/365

This originally was just an idea for my sister to run around with a sheet on her head. But after struggling over picking a photo to edit, and then looking at it, I thought I would try a conceptual approach. The darkness represents the girls dark past, and the white sheet and her flying represents escaping it.

The blank sheet could also represent a clean start, or a blank canvas yet to be discovered.

I am actually quite proud of this.

OH YEAH AND I GOT MY FILM CAMERA FIXED! Well technically, it wasn't ever broken. The man said that I needed to press this button on the bottom of my camera before taking out the film and it wouldn't tear. YAY.

And I got some new nice "portra" film that I can't wait to use!! Thanks mom!! <3

YAY IM SO HAPPY

Staring at the blank canvas.

Where to begin when confronted with a blank canvas? Formless and empty. Without scale or constraint. Free of all illusion. Waiting. Silent. With infinite possibilities. Infinite outcomes...

...I’d just like a fish.
