I don't build a lot of castle modelS but winter is a season that mysteriously makes me want to. Here's my new model the Blacksmith house and forge. I don't preview to sale this as a set but instead as instructions. Just need time to produce them...

Thanks to shooting RAW and some Photoshop and Topaz work I was able to enhance this previously grainy and noisy picture to what you see here...

Loved watching these Blacksmiths at work in their workshop based in the National Coal Mining Museum.

What does every castle need? Obviously it's a blacksmith. maybe even two. Really depends on how quickly your knights are blunting their swords trying to kill make belief dragons.

A remake of the classic (is it classic yet?) set brickset.com/sets/3739-1/Blacksmith-Shop

I tried to keep the character of an angular house, without making it look like its decaying, along with keeping the simple retro feel of the set. Unfortunately it doesn't open up, but I did try and replicate as many features of the house as I could. Theres some things I'd have liked to differently with more time/parts (that stone technique is parts intensive!) but as i'm heading off for about 11 days this month i figured i'm a little rushed for CCC :P

One day I may rebuild it better.... maybe...

Enjoy!

When I first walked over to this building I didn't know there was any activity happening inside. Then the flame flared up, and and I knew there was photograph waiting to be captured.

After two years I'm finally sharing these photos of my latest Dark Age creation, a medieval Blacksmith Watermill that specialize on making enchanted weapons. Using the nearby river, the mill mechanism turns the shafts and powers the blacksmith drop-hammer.

It has a vegetable garden and a courtyard as well as a kitchen and smokestack. I built-in Power Functions to light up both the fireplace and the oven, as well as move the water wheel and drop hammer. I have a full video on this MOC on my YouTube channel here - youtu.be/81YqJs8wtBg

I hope you enjoy my creation, and check out the video!

When you have a damaged weapon or need a new one, a blacksmith is the right place for you. Sword in the Forge!

I am very excited about the Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set that adorns my lego room, so I made my own version. The inspiration was a model from Tabletop World.

I hope you like it!

A blacksmith is only as good as his tools. And this blacksmith has built his workshop out of them!

I created this vignette for the Classic Castle's April seed piece challenge. The seed piece was Thor's hammer. I used it as the masonry bricks in the floor and around the fireplace.

Given the heavy mining industry which Laxey was so well known for in the past. Blacksmiths played a key role and so were located close by. This local workshop is still running and providing services, but maybe not as blacksmiths once did.

Located on the east coast of the Island of the Isle of Man in the village of Laxey, the Laxey Blacksmith was founded by Allan King in the early 1990s, his speciality being the design, forging and creation of both functional and artistic ironwork.

Allan has more than 30 years experience working with steel, wrought iron, cast iron, copper and aluminium, and uses traditional hammer, anvil and forge alongside twenty-first century technology.

Laxey is a village who's name derives from the Old Norse Laxa meaning 'Salmon River'. Its key distinguishing features are its three working vintage railways and the largest working waterwheel in the world. It is also the location of King Orry's Grave.

The village lies on the A2, the main Douglas to Ramsey road, and on the vintage Manx Electric Railway, and Snaefell Mountain Railway. Laxey Glen is one of the Manx National Glens; another glen, Dhoon Glen, is about 1 1⁄4 miles away. The Raad ny Foillan long distance coastal footpath, opened in 1986, runs along the coast of Laxey Bay through the village.

Walking through the back streets on Halloween day, Kristen and I came across a blacksmith working in a small, dirt-floored shop, complete with a forge, anvils hammers, all sorts of vices and tools. As we approached a customer was leaving. We spoke with him for a few minutes and he showed us some of the custom die punches that he made to cut shapes from leather, paper and metal.

Keeping up traditional Blacksmithing skills

the malham circular walk was a wonderful introduction to the Yorkshire d.ales, especially for someone like myself from the fenlands of east anglia where the most elevated position is usually is the upstairs window .

we left malham and followed the signs that lead to Janets Foss , then moved on to Goredale Scar , unfortunately we had to settle for a veiw from the position of the rope that warned us not to proceed any further due to the danger of possible falling rocks because of the recent persistent rain. we the returned to the bridge that we had passed on the way to the scar and had a bite to eat and proceeded to take the trail (UP HILL) to the Malham cove, the limestone pavement was very slippery and so we chose to take the safer route over the top and made our way down the other side down a set of very steep steps. once at the bottom we saw the impressive site of the Cove itself. after a 5 hour trek we rerurned to the car, warmed up and set of to a vantage point to see the cove from afar , by this time the clouds had moved on enough so the sun briefly lit up the hillsides,

This is a picture of my grandfather's blacksmith shop. Joseph Albert Bailey (1879-1959), is on the left. He was a crusty old guy, and I never knew him all that well. We were always fascinated by his outdoor privy and very humble quarters!
