The 1st vegetarian restaurant we went to in China, in the Yuyuan bazaar. Since it was the morning, all they had was noodles and a few cold case dim sum-like items. We each had a killer bowl of noodles and soup (Janet and Allyn are trying a bowl to see if we like it - then when we did, we ordered another one). I also got a black sesame soup/gruel - I have had at dim sum places in LA, but this was BETTER. Just a yummy breakfast.

Dinner at Shoya Japanese Restaurant (25 Market Lane, Melbourne) for a friend's birthday.

Chef's Dessert ~ Sea urchin cheese cake, kurogoma (black sesame) panacotta and tofu chocolate mousse.

Black sesame soft serve on a snowy day! It looks like something devils would eat, but it was actually very tasty.

南善坊の帰りに、日吉さん近くの大杉茶屋で一休みしてから帰宅。雪降ってたけど、黒胡麻のソフトクリーム。胡麻の香りが良くて、美味しかったです。

Glaze is cracked because I brought it back to Geneva on the train. Black sesame creme eclair, azuki bean and chocolate croissant with sesame seeds.

One of my fave Chinese desserts. The balls are quite doughy, soft and chewy. On the inside is black sesame paste. The soup is warm and gingery. I miss this when I'm in Melbourne!
