A good harvest .....that is an impressive squash next to him....but he was just a bit over 5' tall, so it is smaller than you might have guessed
We were expecting Typhoon Xangsane at some point during Saturday night. We managed to get bits of information from the internet but there were no local warnings until late Saturday evening and none of the locals were preparing for the storm. It was all quite strange, as if we were being paranoid. Some of the older info said the cat 4 typhoon would hit Danang but some of the newer info said it would hit Hué.
We stocked up on water, snacks (there wasn't anything more nutritious than biscuits and crisps to be bought!), packed our stuff away in case we needed to make a midnight getaway, had our torches handy, filled the bath and thanked our lucky stars we were in a sturdy hotel this time in a windowless room! Fortunately, the typhoon didn't hit us directly (it hit around 80km away to the south) although I didn't sleep all night as the scary winds kept me awake as I clutched my torch, ready to make a quick getaway!
The typhoon still caused a lot of damage in Hué and we were stuck in our hotel all day Sunday as the area was flooded (the water got into the hotel but we were on the 1st floor so were fine). We made 2 short 10m trips across the road to the café for food but that was it. Some people waded around Hué to gawp but we thought it was pretty stupid as trees, signs and windows were still falling so we stayed put. Frequent powercuts, no internet and tv but we were grateful we were safe.

This is the second example of a E.C. Atkins bit brace that I have owned. According to Sanford Moss (sydnasslot.com) the Atkins braces were not made BY Atkins but FOR them. This model no 5110 share a lot of similarities with certain Pexto braces and a theory is that the brace was indeed made by Pexto. This is a fine and very well built brace with a wonderful chuck and rosewood handles. It is fully intact and the ratchet works like a swiss watch. The sweep is marked "E.C. Atkin & Co Indianapolis IND". At the time there were several makers both in England and USA with very similar names, which could explain why the name was incorrectly marked. Or maybe fit was all down to plain sloppiness. But the few Atkins braces I have seen have all had the name stamped wrong.
I'm running out of ways to call my sunset photos. This is the sunset on my way to class. The building right next to it is the BIT building at CSUMB. I think the photo does a great job of silhouetting the building and accentuating the colors of the sunset. This was taken with my iPhone 5s.
How the fu*k can YOU say Miley is not talented. Specially you, who the fu*k are you to judge if she has or has no talent?!
Let me tell you this, Mariah. YOU are NOTHING. You are pure SH*T. While Miley is the most famous teenager in the world. And guess what? It's all because of her talent. Besides, you are a coward. You get lots of hate because of your enormous mouth, then you get scared and hide, deleting your Twitter. One word. PATHETIC. Everything in you is pathetic, little bit*h.
The PmodDA1 is an 8-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter powered by two Analog Devices AD7303. With simultaneous dual outputs per single input, users can perform up to four isolated tests on the analog outputs. Users may provide data to the module through an interface similar to SPI.
A little blurry, but a warm memory of the spring of 2006, when I was pregnant with Willow and Ben and I went to this great plant store. We bought this little catnip bunch and let the cats ravage it. Here they are after sampling the catnip, and just look at Bits, having so much fun with Sentachu. I love how she is perched above him, looking over to him as if to say, "Yes, may I help you?" So dainty!
And Bits, his beautiful minty-green eyes, crisp and clear in these days. So playful..he was the most affectionate and cuddly, squirrely racoonlike creature! I miss him so much, still of course, everyday. It will never cease, only grow stronger. I am grateful to have these shots of him. I feel like I took enough.

Cammy, my Nikon D80, sporting an 18-50mm Sigma lens; Happy Buddha, wearing a South African pendant gifted to me by a former coworker; Nikole, a bright young Speedlight SB-800; handheld Chokhor (Tibetan prayer wheel, inscribed with 'om mani padme hung' mantra); and Jade the Buddha.
Happy rests on a soapstone box containing several stones: black tourmaline, rutilated quartz, blue agate and a rough piece of rose quartz. Beneath it all is a book of photography and poetry (Joyful to Hear) written by yours truly!

This is a bit of a revisit of this shot. I was originally thinking of doing an interesting background, but instead opted for a solid black background to keep things simple. This was slightly better planned than my last attempt. Since it was done after the sun went down (unlike the previous one which used ambient light), I used my flash set about 1/16th - 1/32nd power with a 6 inch by 8 inch softbox, handheld to the sides so I could more easily change the angle and distance of the light. The reflections are because of a charcoal/black colored stone tile that I picked up from Home Depot to use for situations like this.
I decided to do the back 2 Hershey Kisses aligned evenly instead of staggered because I think it looked better that way. I thought of separating the two by putting them on either side and behind the foreground one, but figured I'd have a tough time getting it all symmetrical. And I wanted to do more of a contrasty look because that seems to be the mood I've been in lately.
And yes, I realize after the fact that I should have paid better attention to the little paper and used one that said "KISSES" instead of "ISSES" but we had few of these left (my mom being the choco-holic that she is, loves them despite that she really needs to watch how many she has because of her diabetes).
And in case you haven't checked out the other shot to find out the explanation of why three, it all stems from when we went to her sister's funeral a few years ago, and we saw a vanity license plate that said "3 Kisses." And my mom has maintained that that's the perfect serving size. Except that she is a choco-holic...
