Journalling reads: When I bought chocolate covered shortbread as a treat, I wasn’t really surprised when you decided to help yourself to one. I was on the phone to Nan at the time, and I remember laughing that you had grabbed the packet and ripped it open to grab a biscuit. Since it was shortbread I knew it would dissolve so it was safe for you to eat. What I didn’t expect though was exactly how much mess you could possibly make with a single biscuit. You were covered from head to toe, it was on your clothes, in your hair and in the few seconds it took me to grab a packet of baby wipes you had smeared chocolate all over my bed! 22nd September 2012.
This little beauty is making me like sewing again. The first trimester of my pregnancy caused an aversion to pretty much all crafting, but now I am getting back into the swing again. Patchwork using some of my fav fabrics really helped. 2 in. squares of Tula Pink's Flutterby, Heather Bailey's Freshcut, and Moda Swell (Urban Chiks?) in there with a bit of Kaffee F.
Part of one side in. Not bad for a morning of work. Still needs a bit of cleaning up here and there.
Chugging some orange juice at the end of another great day of the trip. I thought the term Juicy Bits was classy sounding. We would call this by our mundane phrase 'with pulp'.

Elizabeth grew up in the countryside of Peru, grazing alpaca and loving to knit.
All she wanted in life was to attend school. But like so many in her community, Elizabeth was prohibited by her parents from further education. “Boys are students,” she was told. “Girls take care of livestock.”
In marriage she found the pattern repeating itself. Her husband went off to study, leaving Elizabeth alone and impoverished, struggling to take care of their young son.
With the help of Heifer, Elizabeth organized other mothers and formed a handicraft association to sell their knitting wares at the local market. The money helps support her family.
Bit by Bit is the story of a woman unwilling to be marginalized.
“There is no strength alone,” she says. “When many of us come together, then there is strength.”
And Elizabeth is staying true to her word, teaching her trade to the young girls of her community.
