Just built: LEGO Monster Museum a.k.a. LEGO Bear Project

After weeks of planning and months of collecting I finally started to built the LEGO Monster Museum project which was previously called LEGO Bear Project.

It's not a secret that you can see the remake of Gregory Coquelz's work (bit.ly/28JyZvp) which isn't an easy one at all but it's exciting for sure! I first saw this masterpiece last fall and after a couple weeks of thinking I decided that I need one on my table. I used around 3800 pieces during the process which took 40 hours to finish. I mean, just the building part, of course. Let's see the details now!

Next to the main four scenes there's also a dreadful moment at the tower. You can see 14 minifigs, including the bear and the two skeletons. There are two ghosts, Frankenstein's monster, a Mummy, a Swamp Thing, Dracula and the five terrified persons who want to be terrified. These guys went to the museum because they wanted to be afraid. That's my story. The original creator based his project on a board game that he often played with when he was a child.

I don't want to get into the details too much but you should know that it was really hard to remake the project of the Belgian master, Yatkuu! I especially worked a lot on the pavement and its levels at some parts but it was also a great challenge to build the walls the exact same way Yatkuu did them. The biggest question was how to apply the turned tower which I recreated in LDD when it was not in its place and it only got there during the building process and I had to make some modifications. The inside structure of the tower is not easy but I successfully did everything the way I planned and I could also fix the stairs but I haven't secured the tower itself to the pavement, however it still stands safely in its place because it's surrounded by four walls. So on the inside it's almost identical to the original but I'm sure that we used completely different bricks behind the walls and under the pavements.

Another difference from the original that I haven't put lighting parts to some places and it's not turning around like Yatkuu's work. It wasn't important for me, although to think of it now, it would have been a huge challenge if I would have wanted to do it.

That's it about the behind the scenes infos, let's switch to the photography part now. The more smaller and bigger projects I do, the better I get in this as well. This time I haven't done it in front a white background like I did with most of my work in the past, including Baba Yaga (bit.ly/1PujSm9). Now I chose a grey one. It's a whole other story, but let's just say that grey was a better match for this one and that's why I have chosen it.

So, that was the story of the LEGO Monster Museum. I have learned a lot during the building process and soon I'll show you other photos with a lot more figures. Stay tuned!

Bit of a mass upload from me tonight.

I thought to myself that while I'm in a cleaning off all the dust marks on one shot I may as well do the other two...

I'm sure I've still missed plenty though
