when it came down to really knitting this thing, it only took 3 days of knitting at 6 hours each.

Brilliant reds and greens of the Bird of Paradise.

Huli Wigmen from the Tari area, Southern Highlands Province with long white plumes of the Ribbon-tailed Astrapia Bird of Paradise and several other species of Bird of Paradise feathers in their headdresses. Traditional uses of feathers such as this continues in New Guinea.
