Golden Plover at Rutland Water

The Pharaoh's chicken,

Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), also called the white scavenger vulture, is a small Old World vulture and the only member of the genus Neophron. It is widely distributed from the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa to India. The contrasting underwing pattern and wedge-shaped tail make it distinctive in flight as it soars in thermals during the warmer parts of the day. Egyptian vultures feed mainly on carrion but are opportunistic and will prey on small mammals, birds, and reptiles. They also feed on the eggs of other birds, breaking larger ones by tossing a large pebble onto them.

The Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher also known as the Black-backed Kingfisher or Three-toed Kingfisher or Miniature Kingfisher - is the smallest kingfisher species; being only slightly larger than a medium-sized hummingbird.

Like other kingfishers, it is brightly colored, with a large and powerful bill.

This is a small, red and yellow kingfisher, averaging 13 cm (5.1 in) in length, yellow under parts with glowing bluish-black upper parts.

A widespread resident of lowland forest, it is endemic across much of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

They are usually found near small streams in densely shaded, lowland forests.

In the Konkan region of southwest India, it begins to breed with the onset of the southwest monsoon in June. The nest is a horizontal tunnel up to a metre in length.

Like other kingfisher species, the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher hunts from a perch. However, instead of fish (the typical diet of the kingfisher), it mainly feeds on insects, as well as small lizards or frogs, if the opportunity arises.

Before eating lizards or frogs, it kills them by holding them in the beak and continually hitting them against a stone or tree stump.

Adult individual.

Because of their incredible flying abilities, these raptors primarily eat songbirds and are common to see in backyards around bird feeders.

The sky bears witness to an exquisite display of nature's beauty. This scene of countless green parrots flying in a massive flock creates a living canvas. This inherent instinct to move together is a vital way for birds to survive and stay protected. As they soar with open wings, the rhythmic movement of their flight highlights a wonderful order within nature. Far away from city clamor and concrete cages, this open-sky view reminds us how crucial it is to protect wildlife and maintain ecological balance. The lively chatter of these free wings sings a continuous song of nature's beauty across the earth.

Spotted this ambitious project manager in the Brecon Beacons, deep in the zone executing a highly questionable construction blueprint.I watched him painstakingly fly back and forth, bringing only the finest, premium quality twigs to the site. After carefully selecting each stick, his strategy appeared to involve flying up to a branch, dropping the twig immediately, looking utterly confused for a few seconds, and then flying off to find another one.At this rate, the local housing market is safe, but you have to admire the absolute determination. He’s building a dream home—one dropped stick at a time.
