Brown fronted woodpecker female
A medium-sized, pied woodpecker with yellow in crown. White-barred (rather than spotted) black. Underparts, prominent black moustache extending to breast and black-streaked white underparts. Vent deep pink. In male forecrown brown, centre yellow, rear red with black rear neck. In female whole crown yellow.

It was a dream for me not even to photograph an owl, just to see one. I have looked and roamed some popular spots of California, Oregon, Florida and even Jersey. All time long I was looking at the wrong place. Not that they don’t exist over there but it’s extremely hard to spot one unlike this coz you know it’s Spotted 😛

The Indian Pond-Heron is an Ardeola heron, closely related to the other typical pond herons. Four of the four pond herons (Indian, Javan, Chinese and Squacco) are sometimes considered to be subspecies of Ardeola ralloides.
It is of Old World origins, breeding in southern Iran and east to the Indian subcontinent, Burma, and Sri Lanka.
It is an egret-like bird. Bird is earthy brown when at rest, but with white wings, tail and rump prominent in flight.
Bird can be seen in singles or loose parties at water-bodies. Diet mainly contains Insects, fish, frogs and crabs.
They are usually silent but may make a harsh croak in alarm when flushed or near their nests.
This Northern Pygmy Owl landed on this short branch covered in lichen. It is amazing how fast their heads pivot from side to side looking for prey or preditor.

leiber / Spechtmeise (Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch) - I saw this small bird today morning as he ran up the tree. I never saw that before that a bird runs on the tree to the top or was able to climb upside down. I figured out that this birds are specialist to run on trees and also to climb upside down on them. 🐦🌳
Javan Green Magpie
The Javan green magpie (Cissa thalassina) is a passerine bird in the crow family, Corvidae. This critically endangered species is endemic to montane forests on the Indonesian island of Java. It formerly included the Bornean green magpie as a subspecies, in which case the "combined" species was known as the short-tailed magpie. The bright green plumage is the result of the yellow pigment lutein, which they gain from their insect diet. They also feed on small lizards and frogs. Initially juveniles are bluish, but they become green after their first moult. In captivity, adults turn bluish if their diet is inadequate.

The red kite is a medium-large bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as eagles, buzzards, and harriers. The species currently breeds in the Western Palearctic region of Europe and northwest Africa, though it formerly also occurred in northern Iran.
I learnt about grackles and how intelligent they are from the book #thegeniusofbirds ! They are placed right at the level of crows despite not being distantly related! Grackles are interesting birds to photograph with the way they pose and especially the wide array of popping colors
courtship.
Story behind the shot- We had to go down to stiff hilly jungle to get close to the subject and the experience was amazing one of the best.
