Una foto que tuve ocasión de hacer en Costa Rica, en un viaje fotográfico con unos amigos, del que guardo un recuerdo muy especial por la belleza de las aves que pude fotografiar. Iré subiendo de forma alterna, alguna más de aquella experiencia.

En estos días ya están luciendo sus mejores colores y cantando como tenores subidos en un posadero, para atraer a las hembras y marcar territorio con otros machos.

Un copioso chuvasco, típico de la zona Norte de Costa Rica (Pital, Boca Tapada), nos sorprendió fotograficando este ave necrófaga, que tiene una cara de vivos colores, como si quisiera demostrar que, a pesar de ser un buitre, es también un ave tropical.

Una de las aves más llamativas de toda la zona de selva iberoamericana; el tucán aracari, un pájaro de tamaño bastante grande y con un diseño muy especial en su pico que le hace parecer dentado.

Una hembra de martín pescador que reposaba tranquilante en su posadero adoptó esta postura agresiva, a la vista de otro ejemplar que se presentó en la zona.

Eider real en vuelo, llegando a su lugar de alimentación.

Hay zonas de Europa y de España donde puede ser más común y donde el fótografo puede tomar fotos impresionantes de este ave. Pero en la zona en la que me muevo, es un ave escasa, ocasional y difícilmente localizable. Yo tuve la gran suerte, hace un par de años, de verle pasar entre la maleza, cuando me encontraba fotografiándo aves del carrizal. Esta foto, para mí, es producto de una gran suerte, de lo cual me felicito.

Sitta europaea

Un macho de pinzón vulgar luciendo sus bellos colores. No es tan bonito como su pariente el pinzón real, pero es más abundante y da más oportunidades a los fotógrafos de naturaleza.

Painted Stork has a heavy yellow beak with a down-curved tip that gives it a resemblance to an ibis. The head of the adult is bare and orange or reddish in colour. The long tertials are tipped in bright pink and at rest they extend over the back and rump. There is a distinctive black breast band with white scaly markings. The band continues into the underwing coverts and the white tips of the black coverts give it the appearance of white stripes running across the underwing lining.

Lesser kudu are forest antelopes found in East Africa. The females and juveniles have a reddish-brown coat, while the males become yellowish grey or darker after the age of 2 years. Males have a prominent black crest of hair on the neck. One long white stripe runs along the back, with 11-14 white stripes branching towards the sides. A black stripe runs from each eye to the nose and a white one from each eye to the center of the dark face. There is also a chevron between the eyes. The area around the lips is white, the throat has white patches, and two white spots appear on each side of the lower jaw. The underparts are completely white, while the slender legs are tawny and have black and white patches. Horns are present only on males and are dark brown and tipped with white in color

Ya están por la zona centro de la península ibérica. Han pasado el invierno en sus territorios de invernada, en África, y han regresado para continuar con su tradicional forma de reproducción: Buscar nidos de otras aves, las más desprevenidas (generalmente urracas), poner allí sus huevos y esperar a que las aves parasitadas críen a sus pollos.

Su canto, en forma de estridentes "graznidos", ya denota su presencia, y el fotógrafo de naturaleza se prepara para buscar la foto que resalte su belleza.

The ability of the camel to survive in desert conditions without water for long periods of time is rivalled by none. The many physiological adaptations the dromedary have even earned it the title "ship of the desert". Dromedaries can glean much of their needed water from desert vegetation, and can survive after losing over 40 percent of their body weight in water. When water is available, whether fresh or brackish (salty), camels drink well - up to 57 litres at a time.

Estos pequeños pájaros de brillante plumaje consiguen que te extasíes ante sus rápidas manibras (arriba-abajo-derecha-izquierda) para colocarse en el sitio correcto desde donde alcanzar el néctar de las flores, que es su alimento.

Bajo la lluvia, un día frío en Crémenes, León, España, pude fotografiar este precioso ejemplar macho de pinzón real.

"Alas sobre el Taragüí" será expuesta en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, en la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación Argentina, desde 13 de Junio al 24 de Junio.

Quebrada del condorito

Todas las curruca, son preciosas. Pero ésta, la curruca carrasqueña, a mi entender, está a la cabeza de todas; sus tonos salmón en el pecho, los grises de su dorso, el anillo ocular rojo y el pequeño bigote blanco, en este caso del macho, le otorgan un plus.

Esta foto la saqué en brasil donde los jilgueros tiene una pequeña tonalidad colorada en la cabeza a diferencia del que habita en Cordoba Argentina donde solo son amarillos.

Un vuelo silencioso y rápido hace difícil introducir su imagen en el visor de la cámara y disparar en el momento oportuno sin que se pierda el foco.

Una de las aves que más deseaba fotografiar en Kenia, la carraca lila, emparentada con la carraca que cría en España, pero , como su nombre indica con un color lila dominante en su cuerpo.
