No nos damos cuenta de lo poco que pesan las aves. Su plumaje les hace parecer más grandes de lo que son pero en realidad pesan un par de decenas de gramos, pudiendo posarse en los pequeños brotes de un árbol.
No ens adonem del poc que pesen els ocells. El seu plomatge els fa semblar més grans del que són però en realitat pesen un parell de desenes de grams, podent posar-se en els xicotets brots d'un arbre.
We don't realise how little the birds weigh. Their plumage makes them look bigger than they are, but in reality they weigh a couple of tens of grams and can perch on small tree shoots.

Voici quelques photos de notre promenade au Marais d'Harchies sous un beaux manteau blanc en Janvier 2024.
Le Marais d'Harchies est une zone humide située en Belgique, plus précisément en région Wallonne, près du village d'Harchies dans la province du Hainaut. C'est une réserve naturelle importante pour la biodiversité de la région.
Écosystème diversifié : Le Marais d'Harchies abrite une grande variété d'espèces végétales et animales. En raison de son statut de zone humide, il soutient une flore et une faune riches, comprenant des espèces végétales aquatiques, des oiseaux migrateurs, des amphibiens et bien d'autres.
Réserve naturelle protégée : Le marais est classé comme réserve naturelle protégée en raison de sa valeur écologique. Cela signifie qu'il est soumis à des réglementations spéciales pour protéger son environnement fragile.
Activités de conservation et d'éducation : Des efforts sont déployés pour préserver et protéger le Marais d'Harchies. Des organisations locales et des autorités gouvernementales peuvent être impliquées dans la gestion de la réserve. De plus, des activités éducatives peuvent être organisées pour sensibiliser le public à l'importance des zones humides et de la conservation de la nature en général.

The painted stork (Mycteria leucocephala) is a large wader in the stork family.
It is found in the wetlands of the plains of tropical Asia south of the Himalayas in the Indian Subcontinent and extending into Southeast Asia.
Their distinctive pink tertial feathers of the adults give them their name.
They forage in flocks in shallow waters along rivers or lakes.
They are not migratory and only make short distance movements in some parts of their range in response to changes in weather or food availability or for breeding.
Like other storks, they are often seen soaring on thermals.

Este pequeño insectívoro pertenece a la misma familia de aves que el petitrrojo, aunque no comparten género. Su comportamiento es bastante similar, pero a diferencia del petirrojo, son bastante más fugaces y difíciles de ver.
Aquest xicotet insectívor pertany a la mateixa família d'ocells que el pit-roig, encara que no comparteixen gènere. El seu comportament és bastant similar, però a diferència del pit-roig, són bastant més fugaços i difícils de vore.
This small insectivore belongs to the same bird family as the robin, although they do not share the same gender. Their behaviour is quite similar, but unlike the robin, they are rather more fleeting and difficult to see.

Una garcilla bueyera, en este caso, macho. ¿Qué por qué lo sé? Fijaos, plumas marrones en la cabeza, marcas rojas y moradas en el pico… Este macho presenta sus mejores galas para la época de apareamiento. El resto del año esos colores llamativos desaparecen.
Un esplugabous, en aquest cas, mascle. Què per què ho sé? Fixeu-vos, plomes marrons al cap, marques roges i habitades en el bec… Aquest mascle presenta les seues millors gales per a l'època d'aparellament. La resta de l'any aqueixos colors cridaners desapareixen.
A Cattle Egret, in this case a male. Why do I know that? Look at the brown feathers on his head, the red and purple markings on his beak... This male is at his best during the mating season. The rest of the year those bright colours disappear.

I always wondered why they are being called Blue Heron considering they are mostly gray or I might have been confused with the Grey Heron all this time ! But now looking at this pair it's pretty obvious where the name comes from. Btw It was almost the breeding season and both of them were working hard on building the nest which could also be a reason for the more evident color
