During our week visit to the Soo, my wife and I spent a day on Mackinaw Island.
We took a walk at dusk, so I could get some long exposures of the bridge.
The landscaping crews were working on this during the morning and early afternoon Saturday, November 8, 2014, ripping out all the landscaping (who needs it!?). They were putting in new wooden forms, to pour a new concrete front walkway. I have no clue when they snuck in and poured the footings for those new walls! They must of had the building inspector on speed dial, since I'm fairly certain the concrete must set up and be inspected before you can put walls on top of it. Another town eager to erase their history, all for a McEyebrow! More updates on this should be coming soon: it looks like this remodel will go very quickly.

This being not far from where I work, I'll be able to watch the transformation of the Hernando McDonald's on a quite regular basis. November 8th happened to be a working half-Saturday (more like I was "half-working" Saturday, LoL!), and amazingly during the day Friday they framed up some all new front and side walls, in order to expand the lobby outward. This is something I've never seen before at a McEyebrow remodel. And it certainly looks like they may be intending to just cover over the front part of the classic mansard roof. So if a future generation of McDonald's wants to "go retro", they can just knock down the crap they're putting up now, uncover the old roof, and be good to go!

McDonald's opened its first 'restaurant' in Bosnia and Herzegovina this past week. Local reactions have been mixed. For many, this event represents symbol of Bosnia's progress over the past 15-years. As we speak (*October 2017) Burger King has 3 of its 173 French restaurants in the Toulon area. KFC has 2 of its 211 stores in France in the Toulon area and Quick only 1.

Quick used to be marketleader in the field of fast service restaurants in number of restaurants but has now 81 (*May 2019) restaurants open. Burger King started in 2017 in Belgium and has 27 (*May 2019) restaurants open. KFC is about to open its first restaurant in Belgium (*May 2019) and for the next couple of years 40 more are planned.

Mackinac Point Lighthouse, in Mackinaw City, Michigan was completed in 1892 to help guide sailors through the Straits of Mackinac, the straits between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. It's powerful beacon could be seen 16 miles away. It went out of service in 1956, and today serves as a maritime museum. "Big Mac", the Mackinac Bridge that connects Michigan's upper and lower penisulas, can be seen in the background.
This is supposedly the worlds biggest McDonalds. It is located along the Will Rogers Turnpike (Interstate 44) just south of Vinita, Oklahoma. This is supposedly the worlds largest Mc Donalds. This building also houses a small Will Rogers Museum, and a gift shop. The cool thing is while you eat, you can watch traffic zip under you at 75 MPH.

An instore McDonald's in the center of Nogent-sur-Marne on the Place de l'Ancien Marché (corner Grande Rue Charles de Gaulle and Boulevard de Gallieni). Had some food and drinks here before I continued my walk through this friendly Parisien suburb.

McDonald's restaurant Waalwijk is one of the busiest restaurants of the province of Noord-Brabant due to the fact that it is located near the most popular themepark of the Netherlands, De Efteling. Photo taken from the parking of Burger King which is located right across McDonald's. This Burger King opened on 22/07/2013 and is built on the same foundations as the abandoned Formule 1 hotel (a low-cost Accor hotel brand, not active anymore in the Netherlands and replaced by Ibis Budget) which used to be the neighbour of McDonald's.

My photos on November 26 were confined to views of the rear, taken from the south side drive of the Hernando Kroger. Kroger was jam packed with people on the afternoon prior to Thanksgiving, but it looks as if this construction may of scared off some of the customers at this McDonald's. The new dual order stations had been installed sometime within the last week.

One of the three McDonald's restaurants in Palm Springs in California. This one is quite new and located at the South of the city on the parking lot of a shopping center in the Smoke Tree area. Featuring a McCafé (like most of the US restaurants) and Drive-Thru.

With this Germantown McDonald's finally open, now I have the best view yet of the Farmington Blvd. Kroger remodel going on right down the hill beyond the fancy new drive thru. It's an even better view than the next door minor med location I found the previous week! It would appear the ground was being prepared for the concrete foundation of the new west end of the mega Kroger that's to be built very soon. The brick walls around the perimeter were already going up over there (photos to come later in the week). At the edge of the McDonald's property, there's actually a new fence and retaining wall, where not too long ago there was a small area of dense landscaping and trees blocking this view. Hey, this is the *new* Germantown, we don't need no stinking trees and greenery cluttering up the Hickory Hill-style concrete and asphalt jungle we're trying to create here!

One of the older McDonald's restaurants of the Netherlands with an openings date in the late 70's of the last century. In the year 1997 another instore McDonald's opened in the center of Leiden in the Donkersteeg (alley) about 500 meters from this location.
Leiden is surrounded by two free standing McDonald's restaurants featuring a Drive-Thru; Leiden A44 (West of Leiden) and Leiderdorp (North east of Leiden). There are plans for a new location at the corner of the Voorschoterweg and Rooseveltstraat which will be opened somewhere in 2015.

According to Google Earth the mushroom shaped metal roof of this McDonald's restaurant used to have a red color before the exterior refurbishment. This restaurant is not located near a highway but within the city limits of Hardenberg in the province Overijssel not far from theme park Slagharen.

We stopped of at a McDonalds in Darnley for a bite to eat, our granddaughter Lauren just didn't fancy a drink from her bottle of baby milk, instead she wanted to sink her gums into my Big Mac, 'Just you try it kiddo'
Seriously though, for a child who was born 9wks premature and with lots of health problems she's doing well she's coming on great. I thank God for her healing, the work that He's already done in her life He will complete. To God be all the glory, honor and praise.

Now here's the replacement Shelby Dr. McDonald's, which Google earth imagery shows was open by October 2013. McD's must of started construction not too long after I took that previous vacant lot picture. This just happens to be a location very close to a 2007-built Burger King as well (burger battles in the hood!). Also, this location is only a few blocks down from the original Shelby Dr. McDonald's location.

Now it really looks ghetto! Note that the upper walls are still that strange hue of brown. If that's the final color, it should look better when they paint the old tile below to match (maybe). For the time being, this one of the ugliest McD's in the area.

The second McDonald's restaurant in Breda (excluding the Hazeldonk locations) in Breda and the first with a Drive-Thru. A special designed building surrounded by office builings and some hardware stores like Praxis.
In 2009 the interior has been fully renovated. The exterior is still in the original style with mostly yellow and red elements. The terrace is already styled in the new pan-European look with the combination of wood and steel.

No, Thank YOU, cool Germantown McDonald's! This vintage sign looks to have the true McD's colors, although a bit faded over the decades. Germantown probably let 'em slide on this, since it's in the very back of the lot pointing to a connecting driveway of sorts to the next-door "Captain Arby's" (yes, a Captain D's converted to an Arby's!)

We stopped at McDonalds for a whole 20 minutes so that we could keep to Oz Snow Adventure's tight schedule!
The burgers were pretty ordinary. It's no wonder we haven't had McBurgers for quite a few years now... I can't even remember when I had them last! And the thick shake just tasted slimy from the gum thickeners. At least the nuggets and fries were still ok.
Our last visit to McDonalds was probably about a year ago on the way to Falls Creek where we stopped by for a coffee and maybe a soft serve cone, oh and rather sickeningly sweet Double Bacon McMuffin a few months ago, not my choice.
What's amazing was the crowds at McDonalds! There must have been at least 5 or 6 buses waiting in the bus parking area!

An Ottawa Police Service Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor parked on Rideau Street outside the Rideau Centre.
This isn't actually the first time I've taken a shot of a Ottawa Police Crown Vic parked with the Rideau Street McDonald's in the background, but, the previous time, it was parked near the George Street entrance.
One of the four McDonald's restaurants in the center of Oslo. In Norway are 74 McDonald's restaurants, the first opened in the year 1983. In greater Oslo are about 25 stores. None of the the Norwegian McDonald's restaurants has McCafé's.
