. . As Bugs Bunny might say, this is Tru Wuv! Love for each other, love for this location, the summer, and these conditions! I don't know if this couple stayed as long as I did tonight, but I want to be like them when I am 90 and can barely walk!
Have a great weekend Facebook and Flickr friends!
On February 08th 2020 RTC's EU 43 - 006 took over the transport of freight train DGS 44121 to Brescia from Brenner station. On the rock wall between Sterzing and Freienfeld the freshly washed locomotive contrasted particularly well.
With freight train GAG 44121 Lokomotion's 193 770 and 189 902 were on their way to the Brenner Pass on 08. February 2020, when I photographed them in the snowy Vals Valley near Sankt Jodok.

The EU43 - 004 from RTC hauled the GAG 48861 to Verona on 8 February 2020. I took a picture of the red zebra in the Pflersch valley in front of the mixed freight train during its slow descent. The locomotive front clearly shows that the coal abrasion is much stronger at pantographs under a DC overhead contact line with two wires.
The Daniel Carter Beard Bridge aka the Big Mac Bridge. it's a yellow twin span steel bowstring arch bridge crossing the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio. It carries Interstate 471 between Cincinnati, Ohio, and Newport, Kentucky.
The Mackinac Bridge, "Big Mac", a five mile(8km) long engineering masterpiece, connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan.
Most pictures of the bridge are side views to show the span and two towers, This picture, looking South from St. Ignace toward Mackinaw City, shows the rise of the bridge over the Straits of Mackinaw. At it's highest point, the roadway is about 200 feet above the water, to allow large ocean-going vessels to pass below. The water at that point is about 250 feet (76m) deep.
The cold, deep water and the extremely high winds that occur at the Straits made the construction of the bridge in 1957 very hazardous, and five men lost their lives during the construction.
The building, classified as a historic monument in 1997, was built between 1892 and 1894. With a stork perched on the chimney, a half-timbered and brick facade, Alsatian tiles on a gable roof, the building was intended primarily to accommodate an Alsatian brasserie.
After the Franco-German war of 1870 and the loss of Alsace-Lorraine, many Alsatians left their native region to settle in all the districts of the capital and open breweries like the famous Brasserie Lipp opened in 1880.
On the facade you can also see a coat of arms that resembles that of the city of Strasbourg and a rather Flemish character: Gambrinus, the "king of beer"
. . . I was hoping to see the aurora above the Mackinaw Bridge last night, but instead I was treated to a wonderful sunset and a small meteor! Had a fantastic dinner at Audie's in Mackinaw City, so overall the night was still a success!
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!
Nearly two years ago, intermodal train 21E flies through the trees with an SD80MAC leader. What's next for the ex-Conrail BigMac remains to be seen, as the fleet currently sits in storage awaiting their future.
I have McDonald's maybe once or twice a year (or when needed for a Flickr photo group! LOL)
Looking close... on Friday!

One of NS's SD80MAC's makes a rare appearance in Jacksonville, Florida, on train 276. Photographed at Garden street, the train is heading to Toyota to take autoracks north at nighttime.
Loaded coal extra Y92 zooms through the signal bridge at milepost 116 on the Norfolk Southern Pittsburg Line with the king of the widecabs, an SD80MAC, leading a little brother SD60i.

confession: I'm a fast-food girl :) but I like burger king much more than mc donald's (I'm in love with the big king XXL :Q_). I'm sure my liver will leave me one day.

No, not that Big Mac! This is a regular-sized French macaron, larger than the gerbets (mini macarons) I usually post.
Freight train GAG 44121 from Munich shunting yard to Brescia Scala in Italy is mostly so heavy that it has to be divided at Hall in Tyrol and is hauled up the northern ramp of the Brenner pass in two parts. The train is loaded with steal products and scrap metal. At the 08th of April 2017 Lokomotion's 186 444 and 189 912 were scheduled for this service and I documented them near Pfons with an impressive mountain chain in the background.
Newcastle Corporation tram 114 stands is overtaken by traction engine BF 5258 Big Mac, built in 1910 by J. & H. McLaren Ltd. Engineers of Leeds (works number 1110). It's in the Town at Beamish Museum, during the Spring 2012 Great North Steam Fair.

Freight train GAG 44126 changes its engine regularly at Brenner station. At the 08th of April 2017 "red zebra" EU43 - 005 from RTC was scheduled for this job. Near Pflersch i took this picture of the heavy freight train climbing down the ramp at low speed.
It was announced in July 2008 that both McDonald's and KFC are opening a restaurant (both featuring a Drive-Thru facility) in 2009 at the exit of the new Southern ring road of Zaandam. Like most of these projects there was a delay but McDonald's opened its doors in August 2010. When visiting this store (October 2010) KFC was still closed and about to open.
Behind the both restaurants there will be a parking lot and probably another brico-hypermarket. This area is still under reconstruction.
Strange enough this brand new store has no EasyOrder and/or McCafé.

Photo shot by my Dad, Jay Thomson, at Etowah, TN in June 2000
On June 26, 2000 Dad caught this eclectic lash-up in the CSX yard at Etowah, TN. The units are CSX SD70MAC 788 (ex-4143, to CSX 4588), HLCX GP40-3 4409 (ex-AMTK GP40-2 658, xx-BM GP40 321, xxx-CR 3229, nee-PC 3229), CSX GP?? ????, NS C40-9 8881 & CSX C40-8W 7830.
I think I've said it before, but that paint on the Big Mac was my favorite Conrail paint. Amazing what that white did for basic Conrail blue.
The Mackinac Bridge connects the state of Michigan's Lower and Upper Peninsulas over the Straits of Mackinac where the waters of Lake Michigan flow into Lake Huron, two of North America's Great Lakes. The bridge currently is the seventh longest suspension bridge in the world (by total suspended length) and the longest suspension bridge in the Americas.
Here, the bridge is viewed looking south toward Mackinaw City in the Lower Peninsula from the north end of the bridge after leaving St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula. It was a stormy wet day on the bridge.

Some guests are not well prepared for our part of the world. For instance, on arrival asking where there is a supermarket, or a MacDonald's. It's a question that makes me laugh. There are MacDonalds all over the place, with quite a lot of them in this picture.
By the way, how many electronic devices do you take on holiday with you? A recent reviewer of our B&B suggested more electronic outlets in their room would be better. I checked their room and counted no less than 13 mains sockets, and that doesn't include the ones hidden behind the bed head and behind the chest of drawers. How many do they need?
