Bravery: Courageous behavior or character. As creative we are called to be brave. Learn some practical ways to be brave with your creative pursuits as Stephen shares examples from traditional design to automotive and creative projects that have made him and others brave.
What business does Stephen Tansley have talking at a Creative Mornings PHX? None! Which makes him perfect for the next topic on Bravery.
Stephen is passionate about everything that deals with great design and illustration. He’s not at peace unless he’s learning something new or creating something good. Stephen’s most recent role was as the Creative Director for the Rhino Agency. His creative projects continue at home as BluePencil Unlimited and now in his new role as Sr. Interactive Art Director for The Lavidge Company. Design & illustration, webcomics, branding & display programs, children’s books, environmental design and craft beer are to just name a few of the things he’s always working on in the background.
As the owner of a 1957 Type 1 Beetle he restored, he participates in the hobby and craft of the Vintage Car world. He will share why Bravery plays a huge part in the world of vintage auto restoration and kustom culture. Many vehicles will be on display and everyone is welcome to mingle with the autos to see why Bravery is at the core of this near lost art.

The Behavioral Operations Management Summer Institute for PhD students at the Ross School of Business of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (BOMSI2019). The lead faculty were Ryan Buell (Harvard Business School), Stephen Leider (Ross School of Business, University of Michigan), and Jordan Tong (Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison). From the website, "The inaugural Behavioral Operations Management Summer Institute for PhD students will be held June 10-14, 2019, at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business in partnership with the Center for Value Chain Innovation. The conference is co-sponsored by the business schools at the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Support for this event is also being provided by Harvard Business School's Technology and Operations Management Unit. The 1-week intensive summer institute is designed to provide PhD students who are interested in behavioral research a solid foundation to conduct behavioral operations management research. Additionally, we hope that the summer institute will encourage collaboration and the creation of a research community among the next generation of researchers. Each day of the institute will include morning and afternoon sessions. Morning sessions will provide a general overview of BOM, review core behavioral economics/psychology topics, and discuss OM applications. Afternoon sessions will be focused more on small groups, practicums (e.g., applying ideas to actual research activity), and roundtables (more informal discussions). There will also be free time to prepare for the next day, have office hours, pair up to work on ideas, and hang out!" Pictures from the sessions taken over the week.
Clients will often report sudden changes in their dog’s personality on or about the time the puppy reaches puberty. Older dogs may appear lethargic and obese, but hypothyroidism in younger dogs may have the opposite behavioral signs (Landsberg, et al., 2003).
Neutering usually does not help correct they hyperactivity and is a good indication that there may be something physiological going on with the dog.

On hot days dragonflies orient themselves so that the least amount of their body surface is directly facing the sun. For exotherms, particularly very active ones like dragonflies, this behavior is necessary to prevent overheating.

Altruistic Behavior-(Wolves)- appears most obviously in kin relationships but may also be evident amongst wider social groups, in which an animal sacrifices its own well-being for the benefit of another animal. Wolves hunt and bring meat to their pack.
When a majestic Humpback whale flings his tail toward the sun; it appears as if a cascade of diamonds shower into the ocean…
I was amused that these birds had selected a light tower on the sports complex of the University of Washington to roost on. This tower is adjacent to Husky Stadium. It's pretty well decorated and looks like a place to avoid being under! (The distant scene really taxed my little pocket travel camera.)

Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long was joined by DHSS Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker, Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Director Elizabeth Romero and others May 6 at Christiana Mall in unveiling a new campaign to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and addiction issues. “We want stigma gone,” said Lt. Governor Hall-Long, who chairs the Behavioral Health Consortium. “And we want to change the perception.” As a family doctor, Secretary Walker said she’s talked with patients who did not want to seek help for a mental health or substance use issue because of the stigma. “The stigma is real, and people don’t ask for help when they need it.”
Dr. Josh Thomas, executive director of NAMI Delaware, said about one in five people have a mental illness and one in 25 people has a serious and persistent mental illness. “We have to work at changing our culture,” he said, while encouraging Delawareans to be a safe person for someone to talk to about a mental illness or addiction issue.

This is a photo of two horses kissing. I rode horses with my family when we went to Costa Rica. Kissing shows affection and love, which are both pro-social behaviors.
Hognoses are also known for their ability to play dead when threatened. They roll over on their back and often puke and poop, making them much less appatizing to potential predators.
Methimazole is the most common antithyroid (thionamide) medication used in cats.
Methimazole is available in tablets and as a transdermal patch. The transdermal patch has fewer side effects than the tablets.
Other side effects may include: hematologic problems, hepatopathy, and self-induced facial excoriations (Stortz, et al., 2004).
The biggest advantage of this medication is that it is inexpensive.

This Carolina Chickadee paused at the edge of a water source for a quick drink, giving me just enough time to capture this moment.
I photographed this little bird in my Arkansas yard, where I keep fresh water available for wildlife. Chickadees are among the most energetic visitors I get, and it’s always rewarding when they slow down enough for a clear shot. I like how the bird’s posture and expression capture both alertness and calm.
Carolina Chickadees are year-round residents here and are known for their curious behavior and cheerful “chicka-dee-dee” calls.
