I don't know about you, but as I read this, it hurt my heart. It is so true, the spirit can't reside in a tabernacle that is filled with the things of the world. My brother-in-law posted on Facebook yesterday about Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." It is so true, if our treasure is filled with the things of the world the spirit with leave us. We need to decide today to drink in the things of the spirit so that we can be instruments in the Lord's hands and bring about much righteousness. This is the path to joy and happiness.

The major focus was receiving the Holy Ghost as our constant companion and then allowing it to change our natures into the Divine nature. That is my greatest treasure and my whole focus and desire. Today we are celebrating our 20th year anniversary and I thought this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley was quite fitting, "Love is meant to be an adventure." The last 20 years have been an amazing adventure. We have sent our first still born girl to heaven and brought 9 children here to earth, and have build powerful memories along the way. We will continue to for built wonderful memories for many years to come. Above all things though, we have built our testimony of the living Christ and have endevored to teach our children of Him. My greatest desire is to one day watch as each of our children embrace the Savior one by one and then all together walk into our eternal inheritance in the presence of the Father. Do what ever it takes to make sure that your love adventure brings you too into the arms of the living Christ, is my prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

My wife and I stayed at a resort in Tucson, AZ on Thursday and Friday and on Friday we ordered some nachos from the pool side bar. They were quite expensive, nearly $18, and we joked with each other, saying what if we could eat whatever we wanted because it was all included with our stay. The funny thing is that they didn't charge us, although we told them that they made a mistake.

Yesterday, I received a text requesting the family to do a special fast today. Around 1:00 pm, I was struggling and texted my wife this text:"I am not going to lie, fasting is harder when it is for someone else like this. I need to turn on the faith! 😂"That thought rang in my mind, turn on your faith. I decided to make a quote out of it. Shortly after, I thought the following as well, Bring your faith, not your pity party.I was determined to bring my faith. Then, my wife texted me a few things that she was fasting for, and that immediately gave my fast a needed power. Needless to say, hunger lost its appeal. When we choose faith, we will be given greater power than that of our own. We can always do more with God than without.

I found this amazing picture on Pinterest and fell in love with it. It is such a visual. The great and spacious building is not some distant building but rather the steps and the balconies are right there taunting us to leave the tree of life with its most white and sweet fruit. If we are not always on the top of our game with our faith, we might just try to set the fruit down real quick with full intent of coming back to the fruit. Sadly, that path back is not as simple or easy as it may seem at the time, and the danger of not returning at all is great. We MUST NOT HEED THEM. We need to use our faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, to stay the course and always obey the promptings of the Spirit. Every day we need to get the spirit early through prayer and scripture study and then KEEP IT ALL DAY. We can't afford to lower our guard or even "look" at the spacious building. Remember Lot's wife who looked back either physically or in her heart and she turned to salt. We must keep our eyes and hearts set and focused on Christ and His teachings.

We have a routine that we do with my little ones, to help them go to bed, we read one article from the Friend, then read some scriptures, and finally either lister to scriptures or spiritual music. Yesterday, while they were listening to the scriptures, this verse jumped out to me:

How can we lay aside every sin? We all have the light of Christ or our conscience. The light of Christ is literally the words of Christ to us personally. If we would listen and obey the light of Christ, we would be lead to lay aside every sin. Be very very careful not to lay aside the light of Christ and disregard it, but rather heed and obey it’s promptings. Elder Bruce R. McConkie taught: “Faith is a gift of God bestowed as a reward for personal righteousness. It is always given when righteousness is present, and the greater the measure of obedience to God’s laws the greater will be the endowment of faith” (Mormon Doctrine, 2nd ed. [1966], 264). I simply love this quote. Years ago, after reading the book, “Kolobs Theorem,” I was praying about what attracts the Light and glory of God unto us and the spirit taught me that it was through our faith. Later when Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “It is by obedience that we gather light into our souls.“ I took this to the Lord asking if I had misunderstood my previous prompting. The Lord then taught me that they are both true and that obedience is the proof or witness of your faith.

As I read this quote, I thought of the analogy of school and that the test proves or is a witness of the mastery of that material. Once someone masters that material they move onto the next chapter or greater knowledge. This same concept applies to faith and obedience, as we acquire faith as a gift from God and through obedience we show forth mastery of that portion of faith, the Lord then bestows greater faith. As we master that level of faith and prove it by obedience, then the Lord bestows even greater faith, and this continues on and on to greater and greater levels of faith, which at every level we gather greater and greater amounts of light and glory unto us.

The Light of Christ is all around us all the time and it is the vehicle or means whereby the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ, our God the Father communicate mostly with us, and yet we hardly are even aware of its presence.

Covey also said, "President McKay taught that to all members of the Church who are in the line of their duty the Holy Ghost normally speaks through their consciences. The Lord may choose many ways to speak, but it seems that the still, small voice, the enlightened conscience, or heart within a person would be the natural one for him to choose."

We must remember that the Savior has already atoned for and bore the sickness, sadness, trials, and tribulations that the one has experienced, is experiencing, and will ever experience. Our responsibility is to help them to come unto Christ, and realize this for themselves. As they come unto Christ, we will be the instruments in the Lords hands and our joy will be great and our rejoicing will reach heaven. We will know the sweetness of the blessings that will be theirs as they realize that they too are of the royal lineage and it too is their right to have the “the priesthood, the gospel, and eternal life.”

Sometimes I feel that we are waiting for that big revelation, that grand insight or conduit from heaven to open up before our eyes. My sister tragically lost her son about 4-5 years ago, and was feeling that she deserved more. She has two friends, who are not even members of the Church, who have seen their deceased children in dreams. She called me about 6 months ago, confessing that this was shaking her testimony and she was struggling with this. We had a good discussion but these next 3 scriptures could have really helped her. Last week I called her and shared them with her and she was really glad. She had come to this same conclusion a few days earlier at a Relief Society activity or something, so my call was another testimony to her that this is the message she needed to hear.

The first scripture is found in John 20:29. This is when Thomas would not believe until he saw for himself.

John 20:29

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
