taken in Armenia, Colombia. Beans are ready to harvest when they turn red, usually in March and September. I love Colombian coffee because they're low in acidity and it has a lovely aroma. No sugar nor milk needed ;)

Inspired by my friend Di Northey who has one of the best eyes for a good picture in all sorts of places I wouldn't look! www.flickr.com/photos/dimarg/ - These are bean flowers -am amazed I would find so much detail in my vegie patch!

Coffee beans drying in a family compound at a village near Konso, Ethiopia.

I used these in a recipe this week with chicken sausages and rigatoni... They are an heirloom variety I get at Kalustyan's.

They're not cheap, but a bag lasts a long time (assuming you cook more common varieties mostly). 3/4 c dried works out to a can, after cooking.

(Curiously, daughter in UK says the rigatoni in her store is basically fluted ziti, and not nearly as hefty as what we see here in NYC.)

View On Black Actually, I took this photo because of the green waterway through the soybean field. This bean field was much larger than it looks. I took this photo over a week ago and most of the fields in this part of the state are harvested already. It sure doesn't take long.

"The Bean" is a huge Millennium Park sculpture so dubbed by Chicagoans because of its shape. When people say "Meet me at the Bean", there's only one place that could possibly be.

Arrived at 6 a.m. when the park opened to catch the early morning sun on the fantastic Chicago architecture. The crowds later in the day make getting clean shots difficult, though as you can see by the last image in the comments, you can have fun capturing people's reactions to their reflections. :-)

I fried an onion, 2 cloves of garlic, a bit of fresh ginger and a red bell pepper. Added a can of white beans in tomato sauce, warmed it all up and garnished with cilantro. Brown rice on the side and a green salad. Voilà !

All I could find in my pantry were these teeny weeny little green beans, called "mung beans". I make a sweet bean soup using palm sugar and dried mandarin peel, following my mum's recipe. Those containers are thimbles, which illustrates how small the beans are.

WIKIPEDIA

The mung bean (also known as mungbean, mung, mungo in Philippines, green gram, or golden gram) is the seed of Vigna radiata. It is native to the Indian subcontinent. They are small, ovoid in shape, and green in colour. The English word mung derives from the Hindi word मूँग mūṅg [muːŋɡ].

April 2012 Scavenger Challenge #25. Education Center: "Be creative!" You've seen it often in Scavenge Challenge. What exactly does "creative" mean? It means to "think outside the box" (in colloquial terms), to visualize something in a manner which is surprising and unusual. A dose of creativity elevates photography to an art form rather than simply a means of documenting objects and events. Creativity cannot be taught. It comes from within. To tap the depths of your creativity, you are given as your assignment subject this item: one cup of dried beans. Use them wisely!

Today I am thankful my youngest comes home from a weekend retreat with her youth group. I am thankful that her favorite soup is 13 bean soup and it is the perfect weather to cook it in. I am thankful that my husband convinced me to start using my 24 mm the way I shoot, not the way I think one should shoot with it.

Happy Sunday Sliderday! I slid saturation, contrast, added a little blue and took out some black.

She finally arrived yesterday. As soon as I saw her picture, I had to have her, & I knew her name was Bean. She is just so friggin' cute. She's all dressed up for her first grownup party, I'll have to get her big sister ready too.
