Caves Beach
City of Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia.
Caves Beach is a small coastal town found on the Swansea Peninsula about 2hrs north of Sydney.
It’s located between Lake Macquarie & the Pacific Ocean.
It has a surfing beach and is a very popular spot for spearfishing.
There are several caves that can be found on the southern end of the beach.
These caves can be explored during low tide.
Avoid if the sea is rough or during large swells.
We had a fantastic vantage point for the annual Newport Beach fireworks show. This sparkler occurred about 30 minutes before the real show. I was setting up my camera and getting the intervalometer ready and did a few long exposures in advance. Fireworks were erupting over the entire area and it was noisy and bright and exciting. Best 4th of July ever :)
Bahia Agua Verde, Baja California, Mexico. With a local ranchero and his family who are leading our group on a mule ride through the local canyons and mountains. Shore excursion from the Safari Endeavor (Un-Cruise Adventures).
Botanical Beach is suppose to be famous for its intertidal life. When I visited this beach at the end of the Juan de Fuca trail I found many areas of the beach devoid of sea life indicating high visitor use.
When people talk about how we need to manage resources they are missing the point. Resources keep us alive but the reason we need to manage them is because we don't know how to manage ourselves. We need to shift our perspective when it comes to taking what we need from the earth.
A pristine beach on Flores Island belonging to First Nation inhabitants on Clayoquot Sound, near the village of Tofino, British Columbia.
A couple of friends and I camped out at Mystic Beach this weekend. It was a very short, easy hike in, mainly due to the fact that I had injured my knee the past week. Despite the twinges, it was worth the hike and camp. Good friends, good fire, and good scenery.
This piece was made with a few different techniques. The sky, shot at sunset, is a composite of 48 images shot over seven minutes.
The water, shot before dawn, is a 30 second exposure lit by the moon.
So despite the fact that I was unable to spot comet ISON due to clouds in the southeast, getting up early was still worthwhile.
