Summer 2015: "Up was Down"
July 4th: Forks does the fourth, Ruby Beach.
El Matador Beach is a not so hidden gem on the California Coast north of Los Angeles. For some reason along El Matador Beach you can find several sea stacks that broke off and eroded from the nearby cliff making for some dynamic compositions. That December afternoon I headed down the El Matador Beach to shoot the winter sunset. Sure enough the sky lite up in the most incredible sunset I've seen. The burn lasted for at least a half an hour allowing for me plenty of time to capture the beautiful colors and hues. This was taken as the show was about over! I found this amazing sea stack with some cormorant enjoying the sunset as well. Now you can see why El Matador Beach is my favorite beach!

It was so cool to see Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach in Oregon. The thin layer of water on the sand created these beautiful reflections, and with the slight hills on the beach, the reflection became striped, which I thought was neat. The sky was so blue... it truly was a perfect day.

Tioman Island is a mukim and an island in Rompin District, Pahang, Malaysia. It is located 32 kilometres (20 miles) off the east coast of mainland Malaysia and is some 39 kilometres (24 miles) long and 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) wide. It has seven villages, the largest and most populous being Kampung Tekek on the central western coast. The densely forested island is sparsely inhabited and is surrounded by numerous coral reefs, making it a popular scuba diving, snorkelling and surfing spot. The marine area around Tioman Island and eight other nearby islands have been declared as marine parks and marine reserves. In the 1970s, TIME Magazine selected Tioman as one of the world's most beautiful islands.
Most beaches in New Jersey require you to pay to go on them during the summer. Which means they have places for you to pay, and they give you a pass which you use to get on to the beach. Beaches are free in the off season.

It's almost the end of the month, meaning that many events are also ending soon. So here's one final post to celebrate June's events and all of the loveliness that came with them.
I will be taking a break until early July to sort things out in real life and wrap this semester up fabulously. I have talked about it a bit more in my blog post, for those who are interested. Thank you for everything and see you in July, loves! ♥

The usual beach art on the banks of the Thames at low tide.
I was unlucky to be passing by when the beach was crowded . . . probably because this was the first warm night in weeks. (Actually there seemed to be a lot of summer parties on the banks of the Thames this evening.)
This is a 4 second exposure but I have exposed the foreground with flash at -1EV.

The beach. It seems people either love it or hate it.
I've experienced both and apparently it depends on the stage of life I happen to be in.
All kids love the beach and I can’t imagine anyone loving it better than I did. My brother and I would happily play in the sand until we were crispy from the sun or we'd stay in the water until shrivelled and blue.
But as an adult the idea of sitting on the beach became as annoying as a rash. There were so many things I could be doing and all of them more interesting than trying to get an even tan, constantly turning like the proverbial plucked chicken on a spit.
Until yet a different stage of life.
The first time I took Adora & Shiloh (granddaughters) to the beach I couldn’t believe how happy I was to just sit and watch them have fun for hours. In between the moments when I was dousing them with what they called ‘sunscream’ they were doing all the usual things like collecting stones, feathers, and old pop cans. They used them to decorate their sand castles after which they would splash in the water and come back to me for more sunscream.
I wasn’t bored for even one second and I found myself quite liking the beach again except for the one thing that never changes no matter the stage of life: sand always finds its way into all the wrong places.

Koh Mak island a holiday destination that offers calmness and peaceful atmosphere. One of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Here the sea is blue and clear and the white sandy Khao beach stretches for 7km. The beach slopes gently into the sea ensuring that swimming form the shore is safe. A short boat ride away to the nearby islands you can find coral reefs which are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. Koh Mak where you can enjoy your dream vacation in a cosy atmosphere. Koh Mak is a medium island where nature, adventure, and convenience come together with untouched nature. The little island Rayang Nai in the above photo can be now be reached on foot since it's low tide.

Thailand's preserved treasure, is an ideal destination for visitors who enjoy a tranquil environment unspoiled by mass tourism. The island Rayang Nai is still uninhabited and can be easily reached by feet or canoe.
Koh Mak is een redelijk groot eiland dat ligt tussen Koh Chang en Koh Kood maar dan veel rustiger dan eilanden als Phuket, Ko Samui en ook Ko Chang. Je komt hier om te relaxen in je hangmat en van de stralende zee te genieten. Je kunt prima languit liggen op helderwitte stranden. Er wonen maar weinig mensen. Voor snorkelen of duiken is dit een mooie plek want het eiland heeft een mooi rif. Als het eb is kun je lopen naar het nabijgelegen eilandje Ko Kham met zijn mooie koraalriffen en kokospalmen. Er is ook een mogelijkheid een kano te huren en met rustige zee naar de eilandjes in de buurt te canoën. Er zijn nog ongerepte stranden op tropische eiland Koh Mak waar je zeker een Robinson Crusoe gevoel krijgt. Haad Khao is een prachtig en rustig 7 km lang zandstrand. Het strand wordt hierboven onderbroken door de monding van een klein riviertje. De baai heeft twee kleine eilanden. Bij laagtij kan men wandelen naar het onbewoonde eiland hier links Koh Rayang Nai.
It was 80 degrees 4 less than the previous day, and I think their was less than 100 hundred people at the beach.
Beach Stone-curlew at Merimbula. These birds are Critically Endangered in NSW and are rarely seen this far south.
Presumably this is the same bird that was seen here last year and stayed around for a few weeks.
