Although I'm not done with the 72 diamond blocks, I've begun to assemble the Storm at Sea top. It's just the motivation I need.

This card is for someone I met at card making classes (at my LSS). She has cancer & I haven't seen her for awhile. I forgot to add that my wonderful freind Helen also was part of the inspiration behind this card. Here's a link to her card

Love this fun sentiment from the Everyday Sayings set. Paired with woolies by BasicGrey (Olivia Collection). Lots of layers underneath. Clear embossed on white paper and then layered on faded jeans distress ink. Also stamped Large Open Flower and Solid Flower on top.
Added machine stitching and sentiment strip together with woolies to finish.
Thanks for peeking, Deirdre

These were inspired by Kristina Werner. I loved the one she had on her blog. She put transparency in her circle. I decided to forgo the transparency and put a scallop to highlight the flowers inside.
They are for my cousins baby shower. I like to give thank you cards so it's one less thing the mom to be has to worry about.
the flowers inside were stamped with 2 different colors and then I painted them with Shimerz....if you haven't used this product I urge you to go find some...this stuff rocks! :)
HA stamps setCL184 thoughtful messages was used. Flower stamps are Magenta and all paper is Basic Grey. Love those 6x6 packs.
Quilting was supposed to be 'wavy lines' like the simple squares quilt-along quilt at Fat Quarterly and some of Lee of Freshly Pieced's work, but for whatever reason my 'wavy' no matter how I messed with the machine settings would just come out zig-zaggy. Oh well....it works fairly well with the ric-rac and it's a lot better than any of the other 'free motion' techniques I've tried. {grin}

It is the 1st of January 2008 - Happy New Year to all of you :))
I've used four Magnolia stamps in this card - TildasSun, Sunflower, TildaWithFrogprince and Edwins dog. Papers are from BasicGreys paper pad Stella Ruby.
Hope I'm still in time! For the "candy cane" inspired stripe in the middle of the ATC I used the big tag included in the CL350 clear set and then covered it with glossy accents.
Thanks for looking!

I did this layout to play along with this week's sketch challenge at BasicGrey. Instead of using three horizontal photos as indicated in the original sketch, I thought this was a perfect opportunity to scrapbook this long panoramic shot of my daughter in a stroller. When I saw the wavy design on the BG paper called "scrumptious," I thought it might mirror the wave design in the stroller.
I have been wanting to try making these pinwheel flowers, so I cut strips from various sheets within the Hello Luscious line and placed glazed brads in the centers and then made a few leaves to accent them. Detail shots are in my Flickr profile. :)
This layout uses the following BasicGrey products:
Papers: [Hello Luscious] HLO 3239 Succulent, HLO 3234 Scrumptious, HLO 3231 Zesty, HLO 3230 Inviting, HLO 3243 Radish, [Urban Prairie] URP 1323 Hayloft
Brads: [Hello Luscious] Glazed Brads MET 3251
Stickers: [June Bug] JUN 1826

Day Eleven
The cost of ... everything.
This was a fun one for me.
Journaling reads:
"I quit my full-time, salary position to go back to serving, bartending & uncertainty. I lost an amazing discount on scrap supplies and I no longer see some of my best friends everyday. I no longer spend 6-8 hours a week in the car. I now pay my own health insurance. I don't get calls & texts about issues at work. I create all day and serve the public SEVEN nights a week. I wouldn't have it any other way. I enjoy what I do & I'm really good at it. I kept my sanity. I spend less & save more. What I gained was more than I lost. And my happiness...priceless. 10-11-11"
Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Bazzill [black]
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey [background], Jillibean Soup [journaling card, grey photo mats]
Letter Stickers: October Afternoon
Pen: Signo [white], Staedtler
Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives, Scotch
I have a new Autumn Greetings card kit available through Right at Home Scrapbooking, see my blog for more details: danielleflanders.blogspot.com/2010/09/new-card-kit-availa...

Hero Arts October 2012 Holiday & Sketch Challenge
My card was inspired by the Hero Arts October sketch that included four banners and a sentiment. However, I made some changes to the design. I made my card vertical instead of horizontal, I only used three small banners at the top edge of the card instead of four, and I placed the sentiment below the banners instead of across them. I created my sentiment with the awesome Stepping Stone alphabet set! It's one of my favorites!
Stamps - Hero Arts Holiday Conversation 4 (CL618), Hero Arts BasicGrey Guest Check (CL615), Hero Arts Studio Calico Stepping Stone Alphabet (330055) and Ellen Hutson Solar White Cardstock

Surely I am not the only one out there who has only just gotten around to scrapping some photos from Christmas at the end of April????
I stamped on one of the patterned paper panels and did some inking of edges. But then I thought hmmm....not TORTURED enough. So I went to town with a sanding block! I put a flourish mask underneath the paper and sanded over it and then did the layout edges. I like how it is an almost frosted look (not that it is cold at Christmas over here- note the short sleeves!)

I lined the handles, so the burlap wouldn't itch when using. My fabric combination is very different from the other tote bags I have made in the past. I only used one Tula Pink charm square in the whole bag. I used reproduction fabric and charm squares that quiltgrl_2000 gave me for my birthday. The charm squares she gave me are from the Urban Couture line and the designer is Basic Grey by Moda. The burlap gives the bag a country sort of feel.
Quilting was supposed to be 'wavy lines' like the simply squares quilt-along quilt at Fat Quarterly and some of Lee of Freshly Pieced's work, but for whatever reason my 'wavy' no matter how I messed with the machine settings would just come out zig-zaggy. Oh well....it works fairly well with the ric-rac and it's a lot better than any of the other 'free motion' techniques I've tried. {grin}
I love the way the early morning sunrise shines on the quilt here.
