I'm working on something much larger than usual today: a heptagram. On Monday I'll be giving a short (10 minute) talk in New Haven at about 7:15, on how I became an alchemist. This is my visual aid for the talk. The first step was laying out this large seven pointed star on a piece of foamcore.

In early 2012 James led the scientific fieldwork of an expedition to the Empty Quarter and Dhofar Mountains of Oman. Here they undertook a wide range of research with a particular focus on establishing the presence of the critically endangered Arabian Leopard, a species thought to number less than 250 in the wild.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord – Units from all across the installation came together for a corps size element esprit de corps run to celebrate the Army’s 243rd birthday, led by the commanding general, Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky, and the senior enlisted advisor, Command Sergeant Major Tagalicud. The 4-mile run started at Watkins Field after reveille were nearly 10,000 Soldiers exited the field in one massive formation. This I Corps run was the first time in nearly a decade that all the units within I Corps ran together as a single formation, and coincided with the Corps recent centennial birthday.
