Sunset in Bar Harbor. At low tide, one can walk across this sandbar to Bar Island. The sandbar is only available for about 2 hours at low tide. Visitors have been known to be stranded on the island until the next low tide.
Bar and Bat Mitzvahs are held at the Western Wall on Mondays and Thursdays. The rituals are often preceded by a procession to the Western Wall. These are joyous celebrations, often with music and dancing. These are wonderful things to see, particularly the mothers sharing their joy with their families and the community.

Milk Bar Toronto carries four kinds of cookie: Compost, Blueberries and Cream, Cornflake-Marshmallow and Corn ($2/ea).
Notice the bilingual labels. The ones that pretty much cover the entire surface of the cookie.
Bar Cañete lleva abierto casi un año y -como cualquier novedad en BCN- ha gozado de su particular dosis de revuelo mediático. Decidimos dejar que se consolidara su oferta y esperar un tiempo prudencial antes de acercarnos a este moderno bar de espíritu castizo ubicado en el barcelonés barrio del Raval.
Nos encontramos un escenario pulcro y atractivo delineado por una generosa barra y complementado con algunas mesas. En un mediodía de escasa afluencia el nivel de confort (incluso en la barra) fue muy bueno, sin ruidos ni molestias. El servicio, con el aire desenfadado que corresponde a una taberna, estuvo desenvuelto aunque sin excesivo entusiasmo, y el conjunto de la comida estuvo bastante bien, con algunos destellos de brillo pero en un conjunto que no nos pareció como para tirar cohetes. Unos precios nada desdeñables asociados a unas raciones un tanto exiguas sugieren una mejor definición en algunas de sus entregas y también una mayor implicación en acabar de afinar la calidad de todo el conjunto. Veremos como evoluciona.
En la fotografía: mollejas Cañete con cítricos. Mollejas de ternera fileteadas, rebozadas y muy bien fritas servidas sobre puré de patata y oportunamente acompañadas de naranja. Muy buenas.
Lo mejor: los complemento de hierbas aromáticas fritas o en tempura, que en su página web figure la carta actualizada y con sus precios
Mejorable: la tortilla de camarones, la torrija; la temperatura de los vinos dulces
Recomendado: que esté abierto toda la tarde ofrece una buena oportunidad de tapear con calidad, a cualquier hora y sin agobios

El Avión, the world famous, must-see and be-seen restaurant and bar in Manuel Antonio has a colorful and fascinating history. The C-123 Fairchild cargo plane has been converted to a pub and a two level bar and restaurant has been built in, around and above the plane This picture was taken on the way out of the restaurant and is the pub/bar.
Seems like it's been here forever this place - the After Beach Bar on the hill a few minutes drive from Kata beach. Well it's been here longer than me and I got to Phuket in 1999. Everything was going so well until....
Had a little 'whoopsy' on way home.
Hit a patch of oil/mud/farmer's slime or something on a right-hand bend in the rain. Not going fast at all. I had just pulled away from a giveway over a small bridge on a country lane. So whoops, Himmy slid sideways and went down and I slid a bit too! (Ended up in a puddle! ) No other vehicles around, so got up, switched ignition off, put side stand out and lifted Himmy up onto its side stand.
Rolled it forward a bit to be safe away from any traffic coming round the bend.
Then a bit of an inspection of bike and me!
Broke windscreen, right hand mirror, right side handguard and brake lever!
Fair amount of scrapes/scratches on paint work of crash bars and pannier rack. Sigh!!
I have grazed my knee and elbow..
Interestingly, I have proven my biker jeans (with Kevlar lining) work well! (Top right)
The jean bit rubbed through, but the Kevlar part stayed and did its job!!
I rubbed a hole in my rain over jacket as well but no damage to my motorcycle jacket. (Bottom left)
Started bike up checked lights and brakes and drove home!!
Rang insurance this morning and now awaiting the bike to be picked up for assessment of the damage etc..!
A little series: 'Bar Florencia'.
In Cuba basic needs are still only to be bought by limited vouchers (ration book, 'op de bon'). Mainly as result of the American siege... This woman needs some cooking oil, and shows one of the vouchers.
Note the re-use of an old bar (Bar Florencia) as the current distribution place for cooking oil and rice.
