A deux pas de la place de la Bastille, le Bar à Soupes, tout de jaune vêtu et dont la réputation n’est plus à faire, surprend chaque jour un peu plus. Le concept est audacieux, puisque ici on ne trouve quasiment que des soupes parmi 6 recettes du jour, tantôt classiques avec des veloutés de poireaux ou potiron, tantôt originales à l’image de la soupe de carotte à l’ananas et au gingembre, ou celle aux lentilles blondes à l’indienne. Bien sûr, les légumes sont choisis en fonction des saisons. Somme toute, une adresse bien dans l’air du temps.
Le Bar à Soupes est ouvert du lundi au samedi de 12h à 15h et de 18h30 à 22h30 (23h en fin de semaine).

The former Mersey Bar light vessel ‘Planet’Canning Dock, Liverpool December 6th 2009. Since this photo was taken, the ship has been restored and is now open to the public (even has a bar serving Liverpool One brewery ales). The building in the background is worth a note too. Albion House (also known as the White Star Building) is a Grade II listed, and was designed by the same chap who worked on New Scotland Yard in London -

Este pueblo situado en el Valle del Genal, con apenas 250 habitantes, ha sido elegido por Sony para formar parte de la promoción de la película “Los Pitufos 3D”. Están pintando todo el pueblo azul para la presentación de la película que es el 16 de junio. La película se estrena en España el 5 de agosto.
Júzcar, the Smurf village.
This village located in the Valley of Genal, with barely 250 residents, has been chosen by Sony to be part of the promotion of the movie "The Smurfs" in 3D. The village is painted blue for the presentation of the film, which is June 16th. The movie premieres in Spain August 5th.
Quite nice bars and stem. The most popular thistle badge is pop-rivetted on. Universal Super 68 front brake. Not sure of the make of levers.

Micklegate Bar is a 12th century Norman arched gate and rebuilt in the late-12th or early-13th century. In the early 14th century, the three-storied structure was added, which allowed for the inclusion of the portcullis. The outward façade seen today dates from the 14th-century renovations. It was at this stage that the Bar also received its barbican (now vanished), a walled but roofless space in front of the Bar, with walkways on top of its walls.
The Micklegate side of the Bar was rebuilt in timber and plaster (probably in 1585-86) along the same lines as the structure surviving at Walmgate Bar, which it resembled until 1827. An arched passage, piercing the rampart, was built on the north side of the Bar in 1753; one on the south side followed in 1827. A double arch was installed on the north side in 1863. The barbican, although in disrepair for many years, remained in place until the early nineteenth century. The last major restoration work took place in 1952 and the stone figures on top of the bar date from that restoration. In 1968, the west turret was dismantled and completely rebuilt.
Micklegate Bar was not only a gateway to the city but also a home to many families until 1918.
Vanderlei Marques, 46, há dois meses abriu um bar num barracão que herdou do seu irmão Vilmar. Localizado no bairro Nossa Senhora das Graças, o bar “Amarelão” reúne cerca de 200 pessoas para um baile gaúcho nas sextas e fins de semana. Sobre o estilo de música, Vanderlei explica “o público escolhe, eu obedeço.”
Vanderlei era professor de dança e dono de um Centro de Tradições Gaúchas (CTG), mas largou tudo para assumir o barracão de seu irmão que recebeu um processo judicial devido irregularidades trabalhistas na metalúrgica que tocava no local. Vanderlei mora no barracão sozinho e se sustenta apenas com a renda do bar. Apesar das despesas, diz estar satisfeito em tornar o seu lar um espaço de convivência e alegria.
Vanderlei não tem notícias do irmão há mais de dois meses.

A old Milk Bar that was everywhere when I was growing up, but sadly most have disappeared.

Tucked away on 7310 Harry Hines Blvd, is the former "Ladies Bar".
I have no idea why it's not there anymore; after all, most ladies I know enjoy throwing a few back from time to time.

A Antarctica inaugura, no dia 17 de dezembro, o Bar da Boa, no Rio de Janeiro.
Em seus 370m², o espaço, localizado na Lapa, mescla traços contemporâneos com elementos clássicos, primando pela descontração típica dos cariocas. Os coolers são surdos adaptados. Os bancos foram transformados com base em engradados de cerveja. Já as geladeiras externas - desenvolvidas especialmente para o "Bar da Boa" depois de dois anos de pesquisa - lembram tubulações de fábricas.
O salão tem mesas de sinuca e totó. E uma "loja conceito" vai equipar a casa dos fãs da marca com objetos inspirados na Antarctica: copos personalizados, abridores em formato de pingüins e galheteiros, entre outros produtos customizados. Rótulos históricos e imagens de campanhas publicitárias contam parte da história da Antarctica
