Students of The International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes visited New York City in July, 2009. On Tuesday, July 7th, they had a spectacular dinner at Bar Americain, a Bobby Flay restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Bobby paid the students a special surprise visit and graciously stayed for pictures.

Trouts bar and nightclub. Among the last of the great honkey tonks of Bakersfield. Since the addition of stricter DUI laws places like this has declined dramatically. I remember this place and in addition, there was the Black Board the famous Tex's Barrel house, Rancho Bakersfield, the Circle Inn and that's just the beginning.

La Cattedrale venne costruita nel periodo tra il XII e il XIII secolo sul luogo di un precedente duomo bizantino, i cui resti sono visibili nel pavimento vicino al transetto. La facciata è caratterizzata da una pietra grigia estremamente levigata e da ornamenti di gusto classico e di influenza bizantina. Nella parte inferiore del prospetto si trovano tre portali, mentre in alto vi è il grande rosone riccamente decorato da figure fantastiche e mostruose. L'interno è composto da tre navate e, insieme alla facciata, venne restaurato nel Settecento da Domenico Antonio Vaccaro, secondo il gusto barocco. I lavori attuati negli anni Trenta del Novecento hanno cercato di restituire il più possibile la struttura originaria della Chiesa, liberandola dalle aggiunte settecentesche. Fanno parte della costruzione anche due cripte, una sottostante la zona absidale e una che si sviluppa lungo la navata. Nella cripta sono conservate le reliquie di San Sabino e l'immagine della Madonna Odegitria, un'icona che secondo la tradizione venne dipinta da San Luca e appartenne ad un tempio di Costantinopoli.

Il Palazzo dell'Acquedotto Pugliese venne progettato dall'ingegnere Cesare Brunetti nel 1924 e venne terminato nel 1932. L'arredamento, le suppellettili e le decorazioni furono curati nei minimi dettagli da Duilio Cambellotti, artista fantasioso e versatile. Filo conduttore di tutto è ovviamente l'acqua. Nelle stanze del primo e del secondo piano si trovano gli affreschi e le decorazioni che hanno come soggetti principali cavalli, rondini e giochi acquatici. Si trovano, inoltre, un enorme tappeto realizzato in lana con le raffigurazioni dell'acqua dalla sorgente, attraverso il trasporto, fino alla sua erogazione e una stele in marmo che riproduce un viso e due mani con un recipiente, a significare le portatrici d'acqua, le stesse figure che decorano gli stipiti delle porte.
