This is a photo of a bangle bracelet that I made with Cynthia Toops several years ago. This photo shows the bracelet open and lying flat. You can see both sides of the bracelet in full, with one side having an underwater scene on the right (complete with mermaid) and a land scene on the left. I love the color palette that she used for these mosaics.

Each mosaic is made by rolling tiny Fimo/polymer threads out of each color, and then baking those threads to harden them. Then the threads are cut into small pieces and these are used as the basis for the mosaic, with each tiny cut piece of thread pushed into soft polymer lining the bezel. She only has a limited amount of time to set all the threads before the polymer clay dries out and the threads begin to curl. In some of the larger mosaics she has done, Cynthia has had to rework entire sections that have dried too fast. Each mosaic takes many, many hours, and it is not unusual for her to spend a week of working almost constantly to finish one. Once all the threads are in place the entire piece is baked once again, hardening and setting them.

This piece is now privately owned.

Lovely display of bangles in a Pézenas shop in a lovely quiet backstreet.

Soft overcast light makes taking photographs a bit easier sometimes!

The bangles were a big part of the trip, wearing them, taking pictures of them.

my first project of 2013! i had been wanting to try Donna Kato's butterfly cane for a while, finally got there :)

i think i needed to make the black and white areas bigger, maybe make the bangle deeper, but i like the concept of this :)

There is strong evidence which shows that women have been adorning their arms with bangles since ancient times in India.Wearing of bangles is considered a must for a married woman in India and are important part of Indian bride's jewellery. In certain communities, there is a custom which says that gold bangles should not be worn alone by married women and should be teamed with glass bangles, popularly known as 'kaanch ki choodiya', as it symbolizes well-being of husband and sons.

#9 of 120 for 2020

These two bangles are part of a series inspired by an adventerous youg lady named Saraphine.

Earrings and masks don’t mix

My mask comes off and on (even though I know that isn’t a recommended practice). Threading my earrings through the ear loops every time is super annoying.

Over the last few years, I’ve come to favor earrings as my statement jewelry of choice. Masks make them a real pain, though, so I’m reaching for different jewelry now. My necklaces are being worn and I even sported a couple of bangles, today. (Remember arm parties?)

This was inspired by the wonderful work of Melody Johnson whose art quilts are quite exquisite. I am not totally happy with it but I will definitely wear it.
