I made one of the runners and my Mom made the other two.

I used an iron and that sticky tape stuff...I can't sew.

Nope, not my grandma's recipe, but really good! These are the best chocolate chip cookies I've made. The recipe uses semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips plus vanilla oudding mix. Yum! =)

Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe by: Grandma's Homestead

Web produced by: Liz Foreman

4/20/2006 12:35:46 PM

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 c. butter

1/2 c. margarine

1/4 c. granulated sugar

3/4 c. brown sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 pkg. (31/2 oz.) vanilla instant pudding

2 eggs

1 1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 c. milk chocolate chips

1 1/2 c. cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 375°.

Combine flour and baking soda; set aside. In separate bowl, combine butter, margarine, sugars and vanilla. Be sure to scrape your mixing bowl at intervals while beating. Add pudding mix. Beat again until smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add flour mixture 1/2 cup at a time. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop on ungreased cookie sheets by the tablespoonfuls. Bake for 13-14 minutes or until slightly brown around the edges.

These chocolate chip cookies are the favorite at Grandma's Homestead Bed and Breakfast. One morning a lady guest was looking forward to some morning cookies with coffee but found that the plate was empty! She made everyone give cookie confession at breakfast, only to discover her husband had eaten 12! Cookie Monster!

Yield: 4 dozen

And I did get 4 dozen cookies using a 1" scoop. =)

My friends Lauren and Amy had been planning a baking day and today was the day! So much baking! Near constant baking from about Noon until 8pm. So many delicious treats.

One particularly cool thing was that Lauren had a Zombie themed cookbook and so there are items like cakes that actually looks like real hearts, bleeding cupcakes stabbed with broken glass (sugar glass ;-) and bone shaped meringues. Other treats include raspberry filled chocolate ravioli cookies, mini cheesecakes, a caramel cake, custard tarts with fresh berries and cupcakes that look like mini hamburger sliders. There's also a marzipan beetle that appears to have eaten a cupcake ;-)

It was a fun day and I was glad to be able to help out in the kitchen and get a bunch of photos (coming soon, I promise!)

Thanks to Joe for letting his kitchen be used and Joel and Willow for hanging out and helping to eat as well :-)

The leather & lace approach to sweet baking with stoneground flour. Honey, and brown sugar soften the bran flavour of the flour, while the tart plums poking out of the dough - like sails - lighten the texture. Serve with a blob of something delicate like whipped cream flavoured with sherry and the matching is complete.

This is Little House Needleworks 2011 ornament #7 "Baked Goods". This is one of the first patterns I bought when getting back into cross stitching. I used 30ct Old Mill Java linen that I had on hand. I plan to sew this up as an ornament or a knob hanger.

This was my first attempt at this trick. I wanted it to seem like I normally just float around and have to use my legs to stabalize. Plus I figured I wouldn't ever wear shoes.

a mini take on the normally larger cupcakes, this tiny cupcake was bite-sized! a little bit of chocolate, chocolate chips and cream cheese. it was a small treat and the size (or the lack of a wrapper made it a little bit oily to the taste.

My evening's experimental apple cobbler. Apples that have been topped and hollowed out with a melon baller. The cobbler topping is:

1.5 cups oats

1/2 cup flour

2 tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup brown sugar

Cut with 1/2 cup butter

Fill the apple with topping, top with a teaspoon or so of butter, and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes, or until they're soft when squeezed.
