Between the heat melting the icing and me attempting to hold the cake platter aloft while taking a picture, everything is looking very crooked!
A cheese wire is two handles at either end of an 18" wire. If you've never seen anyone slice a wheel of cheese with one, and have read a few too many thrillers, you don't see a simple kitchen tool — you see a garrote. I pulled the cheese wire out of a shopping bag, and Ron's eyes got rather wide. I explained what it was for, and he said that when shopping for baking tools in future, I should draw the line before I bought a gun.
I naturally thought of my flame-thrower. The one for crème brulée, that is, and I felt compelled to do a little still life.
This bird was supposed to be marinated with a Thai sauce and stuffed with cooked glutinous rice before baking BUT, I have misplaced the recipe!
I am cranking out the baked oatmeal right now. It tastes like muffins, but with fewer calories and more fiber. These are fruit, nut, and flax!
These appear in both client meals and in the breadbaskets I offer.
Being snowed it has advantages. It provided some time to bake some muffins. Nice treat on this snow and cold Saturday morning. Added some extra walnuts as my baker's secret.
