Volunteers and school kids gather to bag sand is an attempt to stem the flow in Danville, Pa. They were only partly successful- the wall breached and flooded their school but downtown was saved.
Modified version of Jane Market Bag featuring Anna Maria Horner's Good Folks fabric. A smaller bag with shoulder-length straps, interfacing added to lining and straps. Lining has zippered pocket on one side and row of open pockets on the other, pintucks omitted. A summer purse/tote for niece Nicole.
£2 from Primark. I hardly ever buy bags in Primark but i just had to have this one. Picture isn't too good but it's very nice in real life. Love the big button at the top too.

The bag measures at 35cm wide by 48cm tall, with straps. A 100% cotton outside back pack/cinch sack and black cordura inside. There is one large main compartment and a inner pocket with a magnit. A great bag for carrying your sport shoose, school books or anything you need for a day at the beach. Just the right size for your laptop 15"6 too!

The Bark Bag, is a fun one day project that will work for all bag loving gals both old and young. It is compact, but sturdy. The cables create a classic look so that the bag may be used for all types of occasions.
Knit on straight needles in one piece, the bag is a quick knit. You can line the bag if you wish and add a snap within the interior to keep your valuables secure. Add a stylish handle and the leaf decorations and you are ready to go. Knit in Lion Brand Jiffy yarn, The Bark Bag is an economical solution to many more expensive bags but just as much fun to carry.
Stitches you will need to know -
K—knit
P—purl
C3 over 3 right—take 3 stitches slip to cable hook, hold in back of work, knit 3 stitches, then knit 3 stitches on cable hook
C3 over 3 left—take 3 stitches slip to cable hook, hold in front of work, knit 3 stitches, then knit 3 stitches on cable hook
YO—yarn over increasing by one stitch
Ssk—knit 2 together through back loops
K2tog—knit 2 together
Sl1 k2tog psso—slip 1 stitch to right needle, knit 2 stitches together then slip the 1 slipped stitch over the just knitted stitch

The fun thing about this bag is that it was born to keep company to a pair of boots I bought. Since the boots are a bit outside my clothing comfort zone (see below), I needed something that would:
1. Tame them a bit
2. Carry my laptop
3. Look nice:)

Pale blue Cah Kidston cotton duck fabric, with bright pink checked lining, wadding interlining, top tab with magnetic bag fastener, fabric handles with brass ring attachments & rivets. I couldnt find any inexpensive brass coloured rings for the handles online, they were all really expensive. So I popped to my local Wilkos store and got a pack of 8 curtain rings for about £3.30. They had little thin metal swirly bits on that you attach to the curtains but these came off really easily and the rings are perfect for bag handles @ a cheaper price!
Bag Balm is a salve originally intended to soothe irritation on cows' udders. The product displays use "For chapped conditions and superficial abrasions" it is used as a treatment for chapped and irritated skin on humans and can be found in drug stores and ski resorts. It has also gained popularity as a post-tattoo skin soother.

She also sent me some cute little ribbons, a pretty fat quarter, and some fun sewing stuff. Thank you so much!!
The finished bag! I'm just a tiny bit pleased with myself for putting this bag together. There was a few tiny little things I would do differently next time. It's all about trial and error I suppose. But overall I'd say it's pretty good for my first bag with no pattern to follow.
