Backsplash installation by Ceramictec Tile using Walker Zanger's Studio Moderne Regency Polished Mosaic in Green River Onyx

Travis tiled the backsplash while I was at work and sent me this photo to make me happy. It worked!

Finished! Moving on...

....not too sure about those white beads though....maybe I could paint them? I won't bother making a decision on that until after it's installed and grouted since grout makes such a difference in the overall look. Ugh. Thoughts anyone?

Finished backsplash showing under cabinet lights

Waiting for grout, but otherwise still attached to wall. (A good thing.)

Kitchen Project:

This is the final result, except the window shade was later changed to match the color of the cabinets.

Created 3 roosters for a kitchen from stained glass with a crazy paving andamento that were placed into a subway tile backsplash.

Assorted one" mosaic tiles mixed with some 2 x 2" stone tiles to create a feature over the stove. My idea, won't be doin' that again.

Our glass tile backsplash showing sink and pendant lighting

I'm trying to figure out what to do with this backsplash behind the sink when we tile the counters. I'm planning to do a subway tile backsplash, but I'd like to do some kind of tile accent in that tall area behind the sink.

For an antique look in the kitchen, consider the bead board. The vertical lines help add a traditional feel throughout the space.

Larry and Donna Miller Kitchen Tile and backsplash done in summer of 2005. Pictures taken just recently as Dec 2009. No,cracks no problems after all these years. This is the diffeance between doing things right the first time vrs cutting corners. My work is solid.

The Waves backsplash features undulating patterns that convey movement and rhythm in a sleek, contemporary design.

This backsplash is painted with scenes of Tuscany and then sealed for extra protection.

Last week, I finished the backsplash. If you've never been in my kitchen, well, it's a pretty gigantic project. It's about 17" high by about 24 feet long. I have one more space that I dream of mosaicing (the arch ceiling over the sink), but I'd have to work upside-down. So this part is finished. I've grouted and glued everything. If you look just to the right of Alexa, you'll see an old Kodak film tin, given to me by my pal Jennifer.

It's been more than a year since I got this kitchen, and I still love it. I still sit in here all the time thinking about how much I love it.

I don't love a lot these days; that's for damn sure.

The world's a fucking mess. I honestly feel less and less like being in it every day. I fear running out of projects.

"Blue, blue, electric blue

That's the color of my room

Where I will live

Blue, blue

Pale blinds drawn all day

Nothing to do, nothing to say

Blue, blue

I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision"
