New commission for a kitchen backsplash. I will be using vitreous mosaic and some stained glass. The background will be white. The light areas on the poppies will actually be a lighter shade of red, not as light as they look here.
Backsplash is 8.5' long and mostly 14 " high. The center focal point is 26" high.

We finally chose some tiles to use for a backsplash in the kitchen, a year and a bit after it was finished. This is pre-grout mind you, but we're thrilled with how good it looks.

I added two rows of washi tape to the backsplash to give the illusion of small hexagonal copper tiles set into colored grout. I find it fascinating how the tape "tiles" appear to change color depending on what angle I photograph them from. Sometimes the aqua "grout" is clearly visible, but other times the backsplash takes on more of a brown, tarnished copper appearance.
I overlapped the edges of the tape a little bit to match up the pattern, trying to eliminate an obvious seam in the honeycomb. In this photo you can see the seam more clearly in that center (stove/oven) unit, but after I rubbed it with my fingertip, it's not quite as visible in later photos.

SET 2 – Colony Crossing Kroger, Pre-Remodel
Here’s a closer look at the meat and seafood counter, angled also to show y’all the back left corner of the salesfloor, which as we already discussed is a bit of an awkward/underused space with those bakery cases and blank wall space. Meat and seafood is looking pretty spiffy here with its full-wall backsplash tile! To me, that tile almost dates this package worse than any of the wall décor itself; and so seeing it in such a full presentation like this looks great and cohesive on one hand, but also a bit overdone on the other. Interested to hear your thoughts on this (understanding that some of you have differing opinions on the package to begin with!).

L.A.County Fair has its usual exciting home show exhibit. I was especially taken with this backsplash design. It would be amazing in my kitchen and would compliment stainless steel features and highlights in a big way!
