This week's Looking Close On Friday theme is "Flora In March," meaning a photo taken in the month of March. Though I haven't seen any flowers in the outdoors where I live so far this year, I was able to find a previously unposted archive shot from March 2013 that fits the bill for the theme. It's an Easter Lily.

A beautifully backlit cholla cactus, late afternoon in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains near Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is one of the older photos I never got around to processing. I did post a similar view many years ago, but I didn't really like it and deleted it. I like this one so much better.

Green leafy branch whipping around on a windy day.

It was a lovely sunny winter day down at Valley Lake Conservation area today, and a couple of birds came into my zone while I waited patiently. I liked the stretching pose from this New Holland Honeyeater. Some tricky backlighting, but I liked the result.

Backlit Swans at Blackwater NWR in Maryland

I almost did not take a photograph of these flying tundra swans as the sun was directly behind them, but I actually like the sun shining through the wings

Backlit ferns on the heath recently.

A slightly different shot, taken wide open of a backlit bluebell flower illuminated by the setting sun. Bluebell woods can be enchanting at this time of year.

Another of the Male Mistletoebird I encountered near home recently.

The male is far more colorful than the female - hope you like this.
