This song sparrow was posing for me with a light from behind to highlight the flyaway feathers, giving it the hollywood portrait look :)

This is a Thimbleberry Blossom. I did this with an in-camera edit.

Similar to one posted upstream but this is the original image.

😃Happy Macro Monday 😄

As the sun came up the leave on the beech tree were being backlit and dappled in light.

Early morning sunlight filters through the overhead tree and bushes illuminating the petals of this beautiful opium poppy

I was at a slightly loose end this afternoon so decided to go for a little walk in the Victoria Esplanade gardens in Palmerston North - I usually always find a nice little something in there to photograph. This lovely pink anemone was being nicely backlit by the sun which gave it a rather attractive translucent look.

I get the fact that coyotes get a bad rap - and sometimes deservedly so. We have them around where we live and I have heard the stories of dogs and cats disappearing with the coyotes getting most of the blame. Still, I love it when I get to hear their plaintiff calls at dusk and what certainly sounds like a joyous reunion when they greet each other at the end of the day.

While I was hopeful to get photos of a fox (still waiting) I am also happy to have seen and captured the other two species of the wild canine trifecta, this coyote being the first. It was walking along the Gibbon River in Yellowstone and I think it was trying to cross the road and head into timber. It stopped here between two trees, looking back towards the river. While the light wasn't the best, I still love how the fringes of its fur and chin whiskers are backlit and glow with the late afternoon sun. The thing that struck me the most about it were those amazing eyes - I'll never forget how I saw that golden color looking right at me in my camera's viewfinder!

Thanks for viewing!

A beautiful oak leaf with all its details showing through from the back light. Taken for the Macro Mondays group. Less than 3" in size.

This is a leaf necklace that started out as a real oak leaf and was then metalized. I was using my makeup mirror for a backlight source, not realizing there was a pink tint. But I like it...

I tried photographing the Common Redstarts early one morning. However, the sun was right in front of me and backlit light is one of the most avoided in wildlife photography. But if you know how to use it, you can take amazing pictures...
