Back after a long journey...

♫♪♫

Gravity is working against me

And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh, I'll never know what makes this man

With all the love that his heart can stand

Dream of ways to throw it all away

Gravity is working against me

And gravity wants to bring me down

Oh, twice as much ain't twice as good

And can't sustain like one half could

It's wanting more that's gonna send me to my knees

Oh, twice as much ain't twice as good

And can't sustain like one half could

It's wanting more that's gonna send me to my knees

Whoa gravity, stay the hell away from me

Whoa gravity has taken better men than me

How can that be?

Just keep me where the light is

Just keep me where the light is

Just keep me where the light is

C'mon keep me where the light is

C'mon keep me where the light is

C'mon keep me where, keep me where the light is

The Eagle appears to be welcoming the Swallows back!

Hello everyone. I've been away again, dealing with the same stuff as before so I couldn't sew or take doll photos. But I'm back now and hopefully can get back into it all. Started to sew again this week so now I can finish these dresses for the Pullip convention. One month until the convention, Ill try to squeeze in as many dresses as I can, but I'm going to have a very limited stock this year. I just didn't have enough time to make as many items as usual due to Stuff. I hope you can still look forward to my little creations that I do manage to get done.

While this was a mistake, I missed the focus and almost was going to delete this photo but after looking at it for a while It has a real nostalgic vibe. You swear this could've been taken back in the day and I like these kind of photos. Sometimes they don't always have to be perfectly photographed to tell a story or to provide nostalgia for some.

It may not be my best photo but I just couldn't delete it. I really felt like there was something here. Makes me realize that we probably shouldn't jump on deleting accident photos because sometimes they can be really good even if you had no intentions. A lot of moments are captured this way. I guess that is an interesting aspect of photography that A.I. can NEVER do.

.....on the little island of Procida in the Bay of Naples in southern Italy.

I’m so glad you made time to see me

How’s life, tell me how’s your family

I haven’t seen them in awhile

You’ve been good, busier than ever

Small talk, work and the weather

Your guard is up and I know why

Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind

You gave me roses, and I left them there to die...

So this is me swallowing my pride

Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night

And I go back to December all the time

It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you

Wishing I’d realized what I had when you were mine

I’d go back to December turn around and make it all right.

I’d go back to December all the time.

1996, the two of us riding our mules Jack and Billy-Bob stopping for a snack on the trails in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve...before it was the Reserve.

Between 1945 and 1991, most of Europe was divided by what was called the Iron Curtain. A 7000km long physical barrier of fences, barricades, mine fields, watch towers, walls and torn families.

Almost 50 years of 'West vs. East'. Fifty years of living in fear from time to time, realizing that 'they', both West and East, only had to press a button.

Finally, with the Cold War ending around 1991, a period of peace could begin. At least we hoped, but with the USSR falling apart, so did some countries. We all remember the Yugoslavian Civil war, which lasted for over a decade.

From 2001 onward, we had relative peace in Europe. Of course, the old West and East didn't always agree with each other, but there was peace nonetheless.

Until... the 24th of February 2022. Russia invades Ukraine.

Is this the rebirth of West vs. East? Will we go 77 year back in time?

Will this resurrect the Iron Curtain?

Let's sincerely hope not.

I've got to get over you then I know, then I can get back to me.

Wish you all a wonderful day! :)

End of the first day of my first tattoo. Work by Zoe Windle of Shamanic. Sorry for the reflectopant shot..

Off to the left in the distance is the path to Lost Lad.

Finally, we got our broadband connection installed in our new apartment today.

We have settled in pretty well in our new home here at Livingston. Although it feels very different living here compared to London, I guess we will learn how to appreciate quieter, more peaceful life here in Scotland.

Haven't taken any shots here in Scotland yet. We will shop for a car very soon. It will be much easier to go around Scotland with a car. Will catch up with your photostream really soon.

Cheers! :)

Having safely descended the treacherous grade off Millstone Hill via the switchback Vermont Rail System's Washington County Railroad crew is headed west at MP 8.1 on the Montpelier and Barre Division. They are crossing South Main Street (VT Route 14) wirh seven loads of granite armor rock from the Northeast Materials quarry trailing green GMRC 804 (a GP9r blt. Oct. 1955 as NW 13) and red VTR 206 (a GP38-3 206 blt. Oct. 1969 as SOU 2718 and originally a high nosed straight GP38). At the small yard in downtown Barre they will pick up more loads then head into Montpelier where the whole string will temporarily be left while they run light down to Montpelier Junction to pull empties from the NECR interchange.

This is the historic Barre Railroad mainline opened in 1888 as the famed 'Sky Route' funded by local interests to reach the quarries. Here is a great historic article from 1889 about this railroad:

Pt47-65 is back on the Wolsztyn-Poznań line after almost a year of being out of service due to an accident.

Apologies for the long absence.

This is the same heron as in the last post - here the heron is defending what has been defined (by the heron) as 'their' feeding area. Although 100 or so feet away, this unlucky Anhinga entered the area - the heron flew over and began to intimidate the Anhinga - although the Anhinga made a lot of noise, splashed up a lot of water, and generally challenged the heron, finally his survival instincts took over and the Anhinga backed off and flew to another area. The heron meanwhile flew back to its the tree from which it could survey the area - I'll post what happened next, shortly.

Other photos in the comments.

I’m not a hardcore birder, I shoot only when both the opportunity and mood arise simultaneously, both of which does not happen very often.

I remember feeling challenged shooting this bird and as such it was a great experience.

1. Tiny bird, smaller even than the common Kingfisher but way more colourful.

2. This being a Forest Kingfisher, it’s always in the thicket, never in the open. Had to shoot at very low shutter speed hoping to catch it in between twitches just to keep ISO low enough to preserve details. Being as dim as it was, had to also boost up the EV to avoid having to do any shadow recovery.

3. 600mm even on APS-C crop was barely sufficient.

4. Trying to squeeze out as much details as possible. Used normal wireless release via OVF; MUP+EFC; Live-view, none made any consistent and significant difference. This was where I got a little mad at Nikon’s useless implementation of EFC on the D500, even more useless than the auto AF fine-tune feature. What’s the point of putting in features that don’t really work!? EFC in Live-view would have helped but infuriatingly, you can activate EFC in Live-view yet you can’t use EFC in Live-view, get your act together Nikon!

5. Getting the right pose with the beak pointing sideways and preferably upwards for the slightly haughty look plus some catch-light in the eye.

An experience to remember. a most beautiful bird, its red feathers extend down the centre back of its head to the collar in a narrowing ridge looking like its beak with the dark blue patches on each side of this ridge giving it the appearance of having eyes and beak at the back of its head! This is likely a defensive marking. Especially interesting when the Micronesia Kingfisher became extinct in the wild due to introduced brown tree snake sneaking up on it from behind while the bird was totally focused ahead and below as kingfishers normally do.

Shooting very small birds is always challenging as conditions constantly change with the subject constantly on the move while you aim for that perfect pose which can disappear in a twitch.

I toyed with the idea of getting the Sony a99ii with A-mount Tamron 150-600mm G2 after this but gave it up eventually. It’s not feasible to shoot with so many different systems.

Shot on tripod at 1/15s!
