Power demand hits new record.
Freezing temperatures across the vast majority of France saw the record peak of electricity consumption smashed last night, hitting 100,500MW at 19.00.
I captured this image of a male Little Owl in one of my Apple trees in my back garden. He had just swooped down into the back field and caught this earth worm!

The Back To Backs, shops and terraced houses dating back to Victorian times. A few of these are preserved by the National Trust and are well worth visiting. It’s quite an eye opener to see how people lived in very cramped conditions, with working families sharing communal washrooms and courtyards. Tours can be booked with the National Trust, my U3A photography group did one a few years back and found it very interesting. Highly recommended.
This image was from a few years back...with my firstborn at the wheel...traveling the back roads of Colorado in July...amazing scenery EVERYWHERE and a nature lovers paradise...within ten minutes of this scene we were in the middle of a TEMPEST of a storm..trying to photograph the dramatic clouds in the skies everywhere...eleven people lost their lives that day we found out later...Seems these sudden storms are quite prevalent there...a few hours to see such beauty ...not nearly enough!!! UP 587 is seen in the evening crawling east to Truckee at Casa Loma. That same morning, 587 had made a westbound run from Truckee to Roseville with two other GP38s. Those other motors would be dropped off in Roseville then the 587 would turn around and head east back to Truckee.

After delivering a half dozen cars to the Mass Coastal interchange they are now headed back west with four empty gons for Mid City Scrap and one load of lumber for DBS. They are seen here rocking along at about MP 3 in the woods east of Hixville Road.
GP9 1706 which was blt. Nov. 1954 as Florida East Coast 658 is now in the lead followed by GP9 1705 which was originally built in Apr. 1956 as Great Northern 704. Both units (plus 1701 in Millis) were allegedly included in the sale to MC and it is uncertain what their future will hold.

They’re back again this year but last year’s nesting spot was destroyed by decay and winter weather. I don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity I had last year to watch these beautiful woodpeckers in such an up-close and personal manner. The Red-headed woodpeckers visit the feeders and suet daily but not nearly with the same frequency as all of the other woodpeckers. I feel so lucky to have them in an area where they don’t generally nest. I believe this is the 4th year we’ve had them. #Redheadedwoodpeckers.

This is the last straw, I'm throwing in the towel. I'm use to things not going my way, I was just born unlucky. But seriously.. like seriously? Some how all my photos on my iPhoto got deleted, all you photographers can imagine how upsetting this is. All those photos gone, that I didn't back-up yet. My wisdom teeth hurt. My school didn't receive my payment for my classes. And ugh soo many other things. I just give-up.
Take one day at a time, they say. Forget what they say, lets go back to yesterday.
I had a somewhat crazy idea to try and make a sunrise in Torridon this morning. Thankfully Iain made me see sense, along with the realisation I would need to be leaving home around 0145! However, the thought that I hadn't really made the effort to shoot either sunrise or sunset, at least not successfully, for several months was playing on my mind so when I woke just before 0400 and there was a hint of colour in the sky, I grabbed my gear and headed down to Findhorn's back shore. I think the colour was already waning well before I arrived and the tide was a little further out than hoped but it was still a good feeling to have given it a go and a brief burst of sunlight as it broke through a cloud layer gave me something for my efforts.
At the end of this week I will be moving back to Japan to teach English, which means that my dolls have to go into storage for the next year or so (actually breaks my heart). This time I'm going to Mobara, Chiba which I'm super happy about. I wanted a Chiba placement so bad!
Although my dolls are going into storage, I am planning to take Hayden and Shunsuke with me because I missed Hayden so badly last time I can't leave without him again.
For the next short while until I get settled and have internet again, there won't be any pictures. This is only temporary though! I love photographing my dolls more than anything.
