noticing all things black and white

Captured on my trip back to Scotland last year, this is Slains castle up on the east coast of Scotland, apparently Bram stokers "Dracula" was based on or around this castle at Cruden bay.

Its a great part of the scottish coastline, i only had limited time here, but would love to have shot this at sunset or later. Ah well next time.

This is a 3 shot Pano, looks mighty impressive large.

Hope you enjoy, many thanks for viewing.

I shot this years ago and always wanted to go back and improve it since I took it when it was way too dark before.

Blue hour, better camera gear, I am glad I was able to return there the other night. Cool POV for the famous Lombard street.

Another attempt at something like fine art. I couldn't do this as a self portrait due to focusing issues in the dark, so the wife stepped up to the task of shooter for the night.

Decided I'm not very hapy with this, I'll have to reshoot it with some tweaks...

**EDIT** re-tweaked (in photoshop, not re-shot), this is nearer what I had in mind, a lot less noise in the shadows. Still not totally happy, but that's the price of perfectionism...

On this Saturday morning I was trying to pick this off between other obligations and only tried due to a large gap of sunny skies between the typical Ohio December grey skies of doom. That left me few choices to begin with and I had this framed up nicely with the mileposts a couple engine lengths back but sure enough right as the train was coming so was a cloud, so a hasty re-position left me with this "basic sunny wedgie" and then I was done - off to meet a family obligation deadline. Experience

This is a pano of photos taken out our back door one recent morning. Very sticky snow was falling and the 6 foot (about 2m) fence was completely covered. HFF

A week ago we joined a rocket launch event at a big Californian ranch called Snow Ranch, located in the Central Valley east of Stockton. The launch site is at a remote location - once you enter the ranch you drive for two miles on a dirt road. Sunset was near when we drove back.

I processed a smooth and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the curves and color balance. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

Back of Kiama after dark .. 600 seconds of stars and a couple of cars...

More of one of our girls on their favorite flowers. I buy a lot of these plants for the pots on the deck and as they grow and make more flowers, the girls come by more often.

...... back home but still running errands this week so will be on and off and slow commenting as I try and catch-up.

I was out scouting rivers for this years annual Fly-fishing trip. Had to stop and take a picture of a rancher watering his west pasture ....how silly, looks like rain clouds coming his way!

On this day while waiting in the front yard, during the morning light for the Hummingbirds to come and visit. All of a sudden this Black Chinned Hummingbird was hovering around our Mexican Heather Blossoms, it got some nectar and saw me and flew away, I sat for a few minutes more for it to come "back for seconds" and sure enough it came back, but I was ready for it this time and captured this Awesome image of our little friend that comes to visit on a daily basis. Thanks my little friend. Hope Y'all Like it.!!
