Another attempt at something like fine art. I couldn't do this as a self portrait due to focusing issues in the dark, so the wife stepped up to the task of shooter for the night.

Decided I'm not very hapy with this, I'll have to reshoot it with some tweaks...

**EDIT** re-tweaked (in photoshop, not re-shot), this is nearer what I had in mind, a lot less noise in the shadows. Still not totally happy, but that's the price of perfectionism...

On this Saturday morning I was trying to pick this off between other obligations and only tried due to a large gap of sunny skies between the typical Ohio December grey skies of doom. That left me few choices to begin with and I had this framed up nicely with the mileposts a couple engine lengths back but sure enough right as the train was coming so was a cloud, so a hasty re-position left me with this "basic sunny wedgie" and then I was done - off to meet a family obligation deadline. A week ago we joined a rocket launch event at a big Californian ranch called Snow Ranch, located in the Central Valley east of Stockton. The launch site is at a remote location - once you enter the ranch you drive for two miles on a dirt road. Sunset was near when we drove back.

I processed a smooth and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the curves and color balance. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

More of one of our girls on their favorite flowers. I buy a lot of these plants for the pots on the deck and as they grow and make more flowers, the girls come by more often.

After an almost 2 month hiatus, Jessie decided she wanted to get back to Ballet class.

I was out scouting rivers for this years annual Fly-fishing trip. Had to stop and take a picture of a rancher watering his west pasture ....how silly, looks like rain clouds coming his way!

A few years back I had a unique photographic experience. I came across 2 foxes that were running along the side of the road. They did not seem to mind my presence, and so I walked with them for about an hour, before they decided to split up and wonder down different trails in the park. I went with one of the foxes, and we walked down and back along a marsh trail for over an hour, he hunting for voles while I tried to capture the moments. During that hour he caught 14 voles (hungry fellow) and provided me with over 500 pictures during the 2 1/2 hours I spent in total with the two of them...

To see more pics from this day and other fox photos please check out my album entitled "foxes".

TIA for all comments.

On this day while waiting in the front yard, during the morning light for the Hummingbirds to come and visit. All of a sudden this Black Chinned Hummingbird was hovering around our Mexican Heather Blossoms, it got some nectar and saw me and flew away, I sat for a few minutes more for it to come "back for seconds" and sure enough it came back, but I was ready for it this time and captured this Awesome image of our little friend that comes to visit on a daily basis. Thanks my little friend. Hope Y'all Like it.!!
