www.axecess.com | Texting advice from AXE: Did you know that you can tell from a ‘hey’ whether a babe is into you? The longer the ‘hey’ the better your chances. What you want is a ‘heyyy’ or longer and what you don’t want is a ‘hi’. ‘Hi’s’ are deadly. ‘Hi’ means you’ve been friendzoned. Being friendzoned by a babe is just about the worst thing that can happen to a man. It’s far worse and a lot more painful than a meatless braai or a wet t-shirt competition at an old age home. It’s just not on. So, remember to wear AXE when in the company of babes as this will ensure that you don’t get ‘hi’d’.

Beheading axe and block

There were a whole bunch of people in this same costume gathering in the same spot, I assume either for a photo shoot or to walk the floor as a promotion.

The Drax power station in Yorkshire is one of the biggest in Europe. It burns both coal and biomass wood pellets imported from the southern forests of the US. Campaigners protested outside the Drax AGM and Department for Energy and Climate change, arguing that in order to meet our climate change targets we need to stop burning carbon and invest in renewable energy industries.

One must keep a safe distance from a man carrying an axe with a determined walk

Remains of the coal mining industry are to be found all over the moors around Axe Edge above Buxton. The collapsed shaft has filled with water at this particular site. That's Buxton in the distance.

Great place for an evening walk.

(PHOTOS AND STORY BY MY BROTHER JEFF, CHICAGO, IL).

My apartment burned up late Saturday night. Luckily I was out drinking while it went a blaze because my room was pretty much completely ravaged by flame and then subsequently destroyed by the firemen with axes and hoses. I lost a lot of stuff, but I was able to salvage my musical equipment and my photographs. Half of my clothes were destroyed along with all of my furniture and kitchen stuff. It has been a crazy few days, hence why I haven't posted anything since it happened. I'm back in Cleveland right now for a few days to unwind but I'll be back in Chicago starting Monday. I'll be moving into my new place, cleaning the smoke and water off my belongings and slowly starting to rebuild my life. I didn't have renters insurance (who does?) so when I get back to Chicago I'll be setting up some kind of benefit show/dance party to try and ease the financial pain that I'm going through right now. Another bummer about the fire was that about 200 copies of our 7" were under my bed during the fire. We were able to find most of them but they suffered severe water damage to the jackets which we had to discard but i would say that we were able to salvage about 95% of the vinyl (the most important part). So if you've already got your hands on one with the original cover art, hold on to it because the only others that exist are only available through the internet or physical distro and there aren't many of them. So that's all the info I have right now... The most important thing though is that I'm ok and having this happen really puts things into perspective so I just wanted to let everyone how much I look forward to seeing you again, alive and healthy, all that fucking matters...

Keep on keepin on...

The Family that chops kindling together stays warm together.

After a moment, or two making rotting planks into kindling we went off into town. Virtual and real life friends were astounded with my text messages relating stories about wood chopping and revealing our rural lifestyle. In the age of space exploration it is rather peculiar to have fossil fuels burning in our living rooms. Currently Mama Sykes is fixated on going to the shops with a, “Chopping List.” Somehow these axe pictures have been calling out to be taken through several streams of consciousness. After sending astounding text messages I believe that these enjoyably posed pictures are not at all shocking. These are not action shots of the work in progress, rather these are pictures of us both in our almost glad rags fresh back from town showing a visitor our prowess with the somewhat trusty axe. This axe was my father’s and mum remembers how the heavy sharp steel end would gracefully take flight on a back swing when the axe was used by my father. Whilst chopping the timber earlier in the day and being all sorts of rural mum recounted her meetings with Hannah Hauxwell. We now have enough kindling to put a heat in the hearth, but do say if you’re coming round as it can take us sometime to work a fire into visitor worthy warmth.
